Tall genes have a lot of risk to them though- tall people suffer from way more health issues. Women like tall men because they look like they can fight/protect better, a masculine quality, but without that factor I think the health issues associated with tallness would probably outweigh any benefits, strictly genetically speaking. Your best bet is probably average height, so around 5'4 for women and 5'10 for men, for the ideal genetic fitness scenario
Generally, short + tall = average height kids.
Nope, usually they inherit the height from one side or another (usually tallness is more dominant)

I know a few couples with a short man/very tall woman and I think they’re adorable.

You didn’t say how tall she was. And to me 6’4-6’9 men are not attractive either. Maybe that’s why they had to marry short women: medium height women were not attracted to them

Where the data is coming from? I've read something like that but only for extreme short/tall people. It's not dangerous for a woman to be 5'7-5'9 or for a man to be up to 6'4

I'm 5'8 and interestingly, I prefer men taller than myself but still close enough to my own height. I only dated couple 6'2-6'4 men and was not sexually compatible with either. They were too big for me, if they tried to go all the way, felt painful.
I find medium height men more compatible sexually and it gives my body more freedom in bed, e.g. not feeling too pressed, him too heavy or mounting over me or dominant
Some women really enjoy that sexual aspect.
