There was a period of time, starting around 2015, when Gap, Inc grabbed up a bunch of people from Nike, North Face, Adidas, Reebok, and North Face to redevelop Old Navy Active. Leading it all up was Jill Stanton, who was at Nike for 14 years. That was the heyday for Old Navy.

In 2019, Jill Stanton left for Marks and Spencer.

They're super inconsistent IMO. I have some leggings I love and others that are thick/uncomfortable. And they change them frequently. The ones I actually like for working out used to be called their "run" leggings and I don't even see them on their website now. The Powersoft I thought were too thick and I only wear for errands. Also, never buy ON at full price. Sale or bust.

Interesting! I have a recent pair of Sweaty Betty leggings that look good on me but are nowhere near as comfortable or as breathable as my older Old Navy active leggings (maybe 2-3 years old). I more often reach for the Old Navy ones.

Sad to read both brands may have changed for the worse, but if that's true it helps me understand why my Sweaty Betty's didn't live up to the hype.

I’ve given up on Old Navy entirely and I was there and a fan at the beginning circa 1997.

The few casual items I bought for casual workwear didn’t last much beyond one wash and got pill-y and shrunk. All this said and I’m meticulous about my laundry and clothing care - so I mean washing on delicate and hang drying and this was the result.

WalMart clothes are better quality; I purchased scrubs and half zip jackets and sweatshirts for my job during Covid. All still going strong.

The ones i have from 10 years ago are great. The new ones not to much. Also a fan of Costco leggings.

My best leggings are Old Navy. Also a runner. The pockets are nice and big, the fabric is light and stretchy, and the waist doesn’t slip.

They are four or five years old though, maybe they’ve gotten worse very recently?

I actually really like their leggings for running. I'm tallish with a long inseam and their leggings actually stay put. I find them to be a good value for the price.

I've also bought about four pairs of their cozecore pants, which are perfect for standing on a chilly soccer field sideline in the early spring or late fall.

Anyway, if you are looking for decent quality at a lower price point than Lululemon/Athleta/Sweat Betty, I recommend checking out Everlane and Quince. Slightly pricier than ON or Amazon, but I have found the quality to be consistently good, plus I have a little more confidence in the their corporate practices and overseas labor practices, as they are more transparent about where their clothing is manufactured, where the fabric comes from, etc. They are not saints (they, too, are in it for the money) but I do think they have better practices than Gap Inc. or the Amazon sellers that are just black boxes in terms of labor/environment.



Everlane is garbage. They feel like plastic. Can’t believe you would recommend them.

Most of my workout leggings/tights/pants are Old Navy. I like they way they look on me, they are comfortable, and they last. I also like their sports bras. I don't like their tanks as much.

OP, it's a little pricer, but I wear Pact now and I love their stuff.
