I knew a Margaret called Muggsy. Nope.
But it's extremely preppy. So is Diggy. I knew a Margaret who was Diggy, but most have been Maggie, Marg, Meg, or Peggy.

It is very popular right now. My dog is named Maisie and we see a lot of other dogs with the same name at the vet or doggy daycare.

Disagree. Sounds really dated as a nickname for Megan

One thing I’ve discovered since calling my Margaret Maggie: apparently it’s a really popular dog’s name.
I’d never known anyone with a dog named Maggie, but since my daughter was born I’ve had dozens of people say, “Oh, we had a dog named Maggie when I was growing up!”
I guess it’s nice that it has such a pleasant association for people, but I was never quite sure how to respond to that one!

I have a Margaret (Maggie) named after an older British relative of my dad’s (Margy). Auntie Margy pronounced hers with a hard “g”. Similar to the sound in Margot, not like Marge. (Margy had a sister, Dody, whose real name was Dorothea, so so I guess it was a pattern? I’m 99% sure they both used the -y spelling, not -ie.)
When my daughter has to choose a screen name or something like that, she often uses something with Daisy. (Margaret is derived from the same root as the French “marguerite,” which means “daisy.”)
She’s tried out Meg in a phase where she didn’t like being called Maggie, but that one didn’t stick. And Peggy gets a firm “no” from her, even after watching Agent Peggy Carter kick butt in the Marvel movies and TV show.

Margaret is a lovely name, you don't need a nickname. But you could do a second first name and use that. Margaret Anne, nn Annie?
