So bizarre to plan so well and then get arrested that way.

H wonders if there are multiple people and this gun will not be THE gun, and this guy’s DNA will not match shooter DNA (if they really have it).

I wonder if the suspect felt they had nothing to lose and figured they would be caught and has been sort of twiddling thumbs waiting for LE to catch up. If he’s carrying a manifesto and the actual weapon around Altoona it seems like he’s waiting for his platform.

It’s 2024, post it online. I doubt the police will make it public.

It will definitely be part of the evidence at trial

I don’t know about this particular hotel, but a lot of the Manhattan hotels have side entrances that are easier to drop people off via car because that’s where there is a circular driveway.

+1. Everyone is streaming too much TV, listening to too many crime podcasts, and posting on crime forums, so everything becomes a vast conspiracy.

Seriously they have all become armchair crime analysts

So there’s a bag of monopoly $$ and he’s sitting there in a McDonalds waiting to get caught, with everything incriminating. Not buying any of it.

Good point. This murder was meant to draw attention to himself and his cause. He's probably been delighted with all the media and LE resources focused on a 26-year old nobody like him. I think all these recent assassinations and assassination attempts by young men are for attention today and in history. Making their mark by shooting someone important.

First Starbucks. Then McDonalds. This anarchist sure loved his slop.

If it is, that person better sue

Sue for what? He was hanging out in a McDonalds with a gun, silencer, fake IDs and a manifesto.

If he’s not the killer he likely committed a different crime.

I wouldn’t. How many people would there be with a similar gun plus silencer and fake NJ ID a few hours by car from NYC? I think people are trying to over complicate this, but it isn’t that deep

I find it hard to believe the real shooter would have all those on him still. And at a place like McDonalds.

I find it harder to believe someone would want to pretend to be him/be the decoy and get the murder pinned on them. Why would anyone agree to that? Even if ultimately found not guilty, there is no promise you wouldn’t get either stuck with the charge or have to sit in jail a long time waiting for a trial

If he's poor and just twiddling his thumbs, why not just turn himself in? Last days of freedom in a McDonald's sounds awful.

He had a $300 backpack so I doubt he's poor.

He was recognized as resembling the shooter by a McD's employee. That employee called the cops. The cops asked the guy for ID and he presented a fake ID.

"The man who was detained at McDonald’s showed the police the same fake New Jersey identification that the man believed to be the gunman presented when he checked into a hostel on the Upper West Side of Manhattan on Nov. 24, a senior law enforcement official said."

Altoon police new what the fake NJ id was? Nope. Not buying any of this.

If so, it will be very hard for a jury to convict, considering “beyond a reasonable doubt.” After I served on a jury, I realized (based on that trial) all criminals should do things in tandem because it will be very hard, if not impossible to get a conviction.
