The entire season was decided early on.

You knew a few weeks in, that it was JWR to win in a cakewalk of a season. They were just deeper, with more players. That's the single more important variable with coaching being a very distant second.

Congrats to players, coaches, and parents. State title is great and well deserved! Rams were head and shoulder better than every other team, not even close. Seniors worked hard and they will be missed, but happy they have a championship to remember their time together!

I hope VHSL lacrosse is better next year. There are some real players out on the field but the teams are just so diluted, the lacrosse is really poor compared to past years.

If you are referring to 6/5/4, you are sadly mistaken as many years the top team in the state has come from 5/4 and not 6.

Going back I would put up many 4/5 team as far superior to any 6 in the state. At 4, Atlee, Dominion and Glass have all had some of the top teams. At 5, the Stone Bridge “Maltz” teams, Briar and Riverside have all been consensus “best in state” teams.

And for all you sensitive private school folks, I am talking VHSL.

6A runs the state. 95% of the time the top team in 6A is the top team in the state (like Robo this year). bigger division, better players, more competition.

Nine penalties called against Robinson. Two against BF. Very one-sided. It appeared that the refs thought their job was to even the playing field. The Rams were too good to let it affect them though. At least it wasn't as bad as when the refs called 22 penalties against Robinson in the regional semis a few years ago...

The refs called a lot on Robinson, not so much on Battlefield. At least two of the Battlefield goals were scored when Robo was a man down (one goal when Robo had two men down). Also, 4th quarter the Robo backups were put in (mostly seniors) because Robo was so far ahead so no, Robo did not take "the foot off the gas" per say. How often does a second or third stringer get to play in a State Championship game?!

Robo had the better team this season. Battlefield was good but no match for Robinson.

4a and 5a were decided before they started. 6a could have gone either way because BF has a special keeper. Robo looked to be the favorite if they could execute. They came out on fire going up 4-0 in first five minutes. Never closer than 4-2. Robo goalie was better than 25 for BF in this game. Robo took foot off the gas in 4th and moved the ball without shooting in 4th as there was no need to extend the lead. 7 different goal scores for robo. 21 had 4 for BF.
