I think the implication that she caused that was a joke. I am annoyed that in all the discussion of her refusing to read the ad no one mentioned that those products are always BS and sometimes harmful, though. Seems like a wasted opportunity.

I mean yeah maybe but also she was so indifferent it was comical. Especially with the pregnant lady in the wheelchair specifically calling her out and she is like shrug? This must be intentional camp at this point.

I just watched all 3 eps in a row and enjoyed them. Everything felt less forced to me than season 1. I’m surprised people aren’t feeling it more.

The only thing I didn’t like was the women objectifying that high school student. Otherwise, I was entertained. Maybe my expectations are lower than they were—but I didn’t think it was half bad.

I also think part of the problem is just that we have such a disdain for privilege right now in this country. Instead of being intrigued by their lives, we are just not all that interested in that experience.

Thoughts on the MILF list in the latest episode? I thought it was a pathetic attempt to be edgy and current. No way would high school boys put Charlotte on there.

I hate this couple and I'm not interested in them at all. I also think it's so sad and shallow that Miranda just jumped headlong into a serious relationship (moving across the country) with no time to process the end of her 20+ year partnership with the father of her child. And the show just treats like it is fine and hysterical and look at her try a strap on.

I get that the show wanted to bring in more representation, but they should have introduced another couple.

If they wanted to make this at all believable, they should have had Miranda divorced from Steve already. I think the way it's set up is simply a story arc for Miranda, which, fine. I admit I haven't watched S2 episodes yet, but I find it a little surprising that no one has had a conversation with Miranda about exactly what you said above - aren't these supposed to be her longtime best friends?

I like the show better when it's not ALL sex, like the first two episodes.
Carrie dealing with grief, and being transported to that moment in time that Big lay dying, a year later, was well-done all around. So much better than all the other nonsense.

Me too and he said he was open for a guest appearance when he was on WWHL. But I feel like that storyline was handled poorly in the original. As a sex columnist she shouldn't have shamed him the way she did. I don't know how they could work him back in.

I don’t understand why people think Cynthia Nixon is such a great actress. She’s been absolutely terrible on this show.

Thanks for the perspective. I didn't love SATC, but I liked it enough to watch most episodes when they come on. Made it through two AJLTs, gave up. And it sounds like there's no point in giving it another try.

SO BAD

The problem is that neither she nor SJP can pull off cute and perky at their age. It's ridiculous. The schtick they used 20 years ago simply doesn't work now.

This is a good point and I don't think it's been exactly addressed in reviews/from critics, nails it on what's wrong with this reboot: they froze these characters exactly where they were 20 years ago - in almost all aspects: looks, personality, personal growth/development. It's like they defrosted them for the series and nothing had happened in the last 20 years.

Miranda and Steve should have divorced years ago. Carrie should have had something going on in her life other than Big. And instead of this dramatic bequest to Natasha, they should all be friends. Charlotte might have stayed largely the same - that's just her disposition, but not in 1950's housewife dresses. I'd actually have liked to see her as super into yoga or Solidcore or something. I will say that the only part of the first season that rang really true to me was Charlotte and Harry navigating their daughter exploring her gender identity, right down to their meeting with the school.

I'll still watch - I'm kind of interested to see what happens. But I feel like there was a lot of missed potential here.

This ep was better, I thought. Felt more natural and authentic.

The writing is awful. The idea that Miranda is so old and out of touch she wouldn’t get that her professor could be a black woman was ridiculous and insulting. These woman are in their 50s, they did not crawl out from under a rock. There is an insulting theme in season one that these educated, nyc women have somehow not been in society for 100 years. Dumb decision to alienate your target audience like this.
