Players & parents are definitely much happier with this turn of events.
And just know we promise he will be the coach in the fall. He can easily manage the college team and 2 ECNL teams. Plus if there is a conflict he will choose FVU.
much sarcasm in this post there is..,Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Hey we got a college coach for the rest of the year. Maybe things will be different.

I asked this earlier, but I think I get lost in the chatter. How realistic is it for someone to coach a college team and club? I recognize it is somewhat of the off-season for him this spring but if he were to continue to be the coach in the fall, is that really feasible?Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Hey we got a college coach for the rest of the year. Jeff Cup looks pretty weak overall?

The 2011s have had three coaches over the last three years and the results have been the same. There’s enough blame to go around but the bulk should fall on the club.
But does the badge really hold that same value it did 3 years ago? Makes sense for older girls, but 2011 and below have options now.
Exactly. The ECNL badge isn’t the only badge that gets you invites to ID sessions and allows you to play at showcases in front of college coaches
You can tell me ECNL is better all day long but if you are staying just for the badge you deserve what you are getting
You "chasing the badge" people need to learn what you are talking about. The girls want to play on the best team possible and against the best competition possible. Below are the rankings for teams in the leagues that the local teams play - ECNL and GA (i.e., the teams they could play on and the competition they would face in those leagues. I have also highlighted the S. MD and N. VA teams the local girls could conceivably play for.
National Rankings:
10 - Arlington ECNL
13 - Charlotte SA ECNL
20 - Penn Fusion SA ECNL
29 - NC Courage ECNL
31 - FC Delco ECNL

The badge chasing was specifically directed at 2011 FVU and parents willingness to put up with coach and club rather than going to another team.
If you are saying that you are at FVU because your daughter wants to be on the best team she can make. Great. But then don’t complain all year about the coach and club.
Can't they want to make the best team possible and still recognize that there are organizational issues that need to be fixed. They tried out for a team, and their coach quit mid year. They didn't know that was going to happen. Is that not something they should be able to complain about?
I could support you if he didn’t do the exact same thing last year and that was the only complaint.
So, they were supposed to know that FVU would drop the ball on USNT recommendations, that they would not be going to KC showcase, know which other showcases they were going to go to, and that DB would quit mid year two years in a row when they accepted their ID invites in March? Their team is still way better than most of the local options, and they had no idea that the club was going to drop the ball when they accepted their ID invites.
And don’t forget Coach showing up late, not being prepared, telling only a few girls he is leaving, not preparing for the most recent VDA game.
FVU parents with the Charlie Brown of the year award. I swear it will be different next year.

So you can't have 2 good players on a team?
At this age level if they were really that good, they wouldn’t be on that team.
Not true. Not everyone can afford these leagues.
If you’re truly talented and can’t afford it. These clubs find a way.
Most of cost comes from travel

Yes. It holds the same value. Top players are not playing GA.
ID sessions say otherwise.
It really doesn’t…
Tell that to the Arlington parents who have to watch Loudoun get the same number of invites as Arlington.
Real Id session was back in September buddy. This was made so FVU and Richmond were included. Lots of extra spots available so why not toss GA a bone. Look at how many ARL , VDA and BSC girls went to that first one. Coincidence they are the 3 highest ranked teams in the dmv.
So Richmond was not invited to the real ID session even though they have a player who made the U-15 YNT. Makes sense.
All the teams that had players in the last sessions didn’t get to submit the list this time around and they called whoever they wanted.
Clubs that didn’t get to send players last time got to submit the list hence they had several players going. That said kudos to VDA for having 4 still going but they had 6/7 in the first round similar to ARL who had 6/7 in the first round and got narrowed down to 2.
Kudos to all the kids from all the clubs that represented today. Unsure why they didn’t include Bethesda
There were definitely bethesda 2012s there as well as coppermine girls. No MDU
