It is so unfair. It can't be that my kid isn't good enough and didn't work hard enough. It has to be unfair.
Holdback whiners have no idea how much work a kid puts in, the sacrifices he makes, and the more than a little bit of luck that goes into a path to top level lacrosse. 3-12 months of age can't overcome that. Not saying it is completely irrelevant (kids are doing it for a reason), but it is such a small part of the formula yet receives such outsized complaining.
Look again at the IL's list of top 22's. 8 out of the top 10 will be 18 years old when they graduate HS. A few months here or there is not why these kids are where they are. A few months here or there is not why other kids aren't on that list.
Spend more time worrying about what matters and what you can control and you may find a better outcome than through just whining.
No one is whining. But it's not being overlooked either. On the IL recruiting site, you can filter by hs, grad year, position, state, etc but not age. Last year IL list was full of holdbacks so its working
