When you were pregnant the first time, you told your doctor that you always felt “tight” in the belly and out of breath after a lot of physical activity and he said “oh yeah, that’s Braxton Hicks contractions. No big deal as long as they’re not painful!” And for some reason, you thought Braxton was a real cool name, hence your oldest kid’s name.

Dad's name is either Big Joe or Big Bobby. Mom's name is Trish or Candy. You all spend a lot of time in overalls going huntin' and muddin' and fishin'. You have a pickup truck with a peeing calvin & NRA stickers on the back window, a Chevy SUV of some sort with Billy Bob's and Joe Bob's little league #s, a decent size boat, two jet skies, and a couple of quads parked in the driveway.

You did everything "right." Joined the "right" sorority at your SEC college (even though you're from Jersey), joined the Junior League after graduation, had your eye on country club memberships from the get-go (you don't like golf, but I'll never tell, xoxo gossip girl), married the "right" guy (Green Book and Chevy Chase Club membership?! Sign a girl up! Sure he snores and is kind of bland, BUT YOU MADE THAT CHOICE SIS AND YOU OWN IT), and gave your kids the "right" names. Now, you're a NOMA who's doing that "back to the workforce!" program at McKinsey (thank you, healthcare policy experience that you hated when you were a 22 year old on the Hill living in an English basement, but it sure helped with recruiting!), you're thisclose to getting off the Washington Golf/Country club waitlist and yet ... inside, you're not happy.

You want something more. You want to be independent and travel the world. Teach yoga and make music. Live on the beach for a while. Do all the things you never did. You dream about it as you run around doing errands, but is chilling at Bed Bath and Beyond really your truth? NO. You'd unfollow KJP on Insta, but the pushback outweighs the clout you get from when he regrammed you, sooooo...

As to the kids ... Jack was named after JFK and is already a handsome and charismatic little guy; he's very comfortable with adults and has a good handshake (manifestation COME THROUGH!!! You had your eye on a political career for him). He's going to the local public to be "one with the people." Ginger's cool. She's what you wish you had been at her age -- independent, artistic, and already her own person. She might try for Beauvoir next year, but she's happy helping you around the house for now. Millie's chill. She's a little baby bopping around, not being too nosy and living her best baby life. You secretly are proud that you named her Millie and all your "preppy" friends love Millie's in Spring Valley cos "Millie's like your daughter, right?"



I wish I could join Mona... they have all the good mom meet ups sadly, south Arlington moms need not apply ?

Jack is actually my stepson... and he’s my husbands namesake, And super uncomfortable around adults ?
