Dude, consider switching to decaf. He just said that's what the model shows. No one thinks the model is perfect, and even if they did it doesn't affect playoff seeding in any way or have any practical effect on anything.

I will admit that the Indy starters are better than the Madison JV call-ups who played the entire second half, if you admit that it was hilarious to see the Indy starters and parents pumping their fists, ringing cowbells, and generally celebrating like they'd just won the Super Bowl because they scored on the JV call-ups.

It's going to get worse in coming years - birthrates fell off a cliff after 2007/08 when the recession hit. Youth lacrosse total numbers are way down, as are almost all sports. If your school has a strong freshman or sophomore class, you're going to look great in two or three years because it is going to be very difficult to backfill graduating players.

Agree. This is the likely list. Pretty simple. It’s always funny when a lesser team beats up on everyone and then plays one of these 4 and all of a sudden realizes they just aren’t there yet. Cosby and WP broke through last year and good on them but this is the group to compare against, especially Robo and Madison since they are nationally ranked for public’s.

Can we give the laxnumbers stuff a rest? It's a known BS algorithm with zero analysis. not sure anyone particularly cares if one HS team is .02 "better" than another... reminds of the old BCS days in football.

What I do appreciate is the analysis from folks who have seen/are watching these teams actually play - really appreciate the game recaps/analysis folks offer. By and large, it's insightful and non-biased and gives great feel for how these teams are doing and builds excitement for certain matchups. So thanks to those who take time to do that.


The algorithm is perfectly fine, you just don't like it because it doesn't favor your team. And clearly you don't know enough about lacrosse to be able to any analysis.

Data plus the analysis is really good and useful.

Alright an easy excerise to end this argument is to compare every 6a team now thay has a pulse to how they were in 2016. I’m not sure what team if any are better now than they were then. And if Robinson and Madison are truly in the top 20 public schools in the nation than there is your answer of how bad it is now. Robinson 2016 team would absolutely destroy the 2026 Robinson team. There are 15 other teams just like it. This isn’t a debatable argument lacrosse is much worse now than it was it’s not even close.

It's not based solely on SoS (because it obviously isn't). It is the LaxNumbers Ranking, which is based on the LN Rating. The Rating includes SoS, scores, etc.

It is essentially a RPI.

2. How does LaxNumbers compute its ratings?

LaxNumbers' ratings are computed mathematically, with no subjective weighting or human determined values. LaxNumbers' algorithm computes an overall average performance rating for teams based upon how well they play against other teams and how good those teams are. A team's overall rating then determines a team's ranking position based on the national, regional, state, and/or sub-state ranking categories a team is placed in. Right. But last years 6a champ won’t get through districts. Langley might not either. Gainesville definitely won’t.


I’d say Langley is somewhat of an outlier with an injury to one of the top players in the state, and Gainesville is one as well as they had, debatably, the best team in the state join their region. West Po I agree is a possibility, but that’s just what happens when you have a super senior heavy class.
