Say 100 million Americans are eligible for the check. That's $60 billion in total direct payments. Bill is reportedly around $900 billion. So less than 7% of it is going directly to Americans. Congress is completely useless.

There are income limits. And the deal includes expanded unemployment but only 300 a week. Dems wanted more if I recall. It’s a home to say Dems didn’t want people to have money. They wanted to target more money to people that really need it and who will spend it, not save it. The stimulus checks are stupid.

Yeah this didn’t work at all.

I mean...Nancy was ready to sign this on Weds without the $600 until Sanders + Manchin stepped in and said hell no. That’s on top of not taking the $1.9 deal in October.

Thank you Bernie! And Manchin. This bill would have been a cruel joke without individual relief money, meager as it is.

Agree. I know a ton of people making $150k household who lost no income since March, in fact saved on childcare, and received BOTH rounds of stimulus. $150k is a very common/comfortable HHI in middle COL areas. These people don’t need stimulus.

Not to mention more likely to be two-parent families getting double the stimulus money.

There was no “$1.9 deal in October”

Okay.

And?

Did you just quote a blog based in Arlington vs a Senior CNN Political Correspondent and expect it did something?

The $600 pp is all wrong. It’s way too much for the people who don’t need it (all the families who have lost no income since March - and there are many like this who still got both stimuluses) and it’s not nearly enough for those who have been jobless (in many families x2) this whole time.

So so messed up.

Okay.

Mnuchin isn’t a Senator. That wouldn’t have flown in the Senate, which is what would have actually needed to pass it.
