Perhaps so that his co conspirator won't get caught?

some (hopefully) many of us have different standards for attractiveness. He THOUGHT he was hot because he lost weight but please really look at his face. Murderer or not, I wouldn't give him a second glance. He's not my type and not attractive. I'd give him a solid 5. This is being objective. (thank you very much ) Scott Peterson, also not attractive AT ALL. Friends, you can do better if you are tricking yourself into believing these bland men are above average.
Granted if someone is a decent person they will of course be more attractive but being objective, nope, not hot.

It's a relatively simple thing to talk about, even if he wasn't the type to talk about relationship issues. Clearly much of it was for her MLM, but God it appeared exhausting.

The only thing that makes sense is he is still protecting Nichole Kessinger somehow. He was on the phone with her for almost 2 hours the night of the murders.

so.. he is not that great looking, average at best. He also comes off as dumb as a post. Likable, perhaps. I guess Ted Bundy fooled a lot of people too so not too crazy..

Sounds like he snapped. Not that he was trying to hide in plain sight like Dexter his whole life.

If it were a crime of passion, I would believe he snapped. But the way everything was carried out... he'd been thinking about this for quite some time. He had a plan. He just wasn't bright enough to have a plan that didn't result in him getting caught.

Chris was a weak man easily manipulated by women. The girlfriend had a lot more to do with him snapping. I wonder if Shannan hadn't gone away for the 5 weeks would he have done it. He would have had less time with the girlfriend and living life without being a dad/husband full time.

He seems to be reasonably intelligent, friendly and just a loving Dad to his two daughters.

Shannan probably never made it up the stairs. Probably never went to bed which is why she still had make up AND a bra on. How many of us sleep with bras on? I can't stand wearing a bra even when I'm awake.


In a later "last confession" he claimed he smothered the kids - and then they both woke up! So he had to kill them "a second time" at the work site. I mean he's just ridiculous. He works to incorporate things that actually happened in with his lies and it all comes out an unbelievable mess.

I just can't figure out why he lies so much. The whole world knows what he is, what he did and how awful he is. Why does he still make up stories about what happened? He's just nuts.

It's what a psychopath or sociopath (I don't claim to know which Chris would be diagnosed as) does. They lie in part because they enjoy the deception. If they can fool people, even for a short amount of time they perceive that as power and strength. I known one (diagnosed) sociopath and being around them was exhausting for me but I could see that they were bored when there was no drama. Most of us feel ridiculous and embarrassed when we are lying and we are caught or even suspect others know we are lying. For a sociopath the wheels just keep spinning--what can I say to get out of this, how can I spin this, what will get to them, what will achieve my goal. Truth does not hold importance to them. It's chilling.

I saw the Netflix documentary recently. I was curious how they made the film footage look like the shots were originally made for a Hollywood production.

What struck me as extraordinary but helpful to the case was:

1. the friend alerting the police so early the morning of Shannan's disappearance.

2. The nextdoor neighbor guy telling the police how strange the husband Chris was acting, with his rambling/talking so much and loading his truck in the driveway

3. The police officers actually took the disappearance seriously. They treated everyone involved in the case with respect from the very beginning. They didn't laugh the friend off and tell her Shannan just ran off with another man.

4. The detective who gave the lie detector test allowed Chris to confess to his own father, even though he lied and accused Shannan of killing the kids first, so he had to kill her.

5. Chris is just like any ordinary man. He wasn't violent or abusive. He kissed Shannan's @$$. There was no indication from his history with Shannan and his observed behavior that he was capable of violence.

6. Shannan never felt unsafe around Chris but she suspected right away that he was cheating and that he didn't love her. The no sex for 5 weeks and then how he rejected her for sex when he flew to North Carolina to meet Shannan and the kids was a big red flag for her. Chris not answering her phone while she was there was a red flag for her.

7. Instead of Shannan confronting her husband, she texted her friends. She texted her friend that she took an evening shower and Chris was supposed to know that meant she wanted sex. But he rejected her.

I don't know how I would have responded to the husband's infidelity but Shannan was intuitive to know he was cheating.
