WOW, this is me. Identical experience as an only child now with a large family. My kids have so much more fun than I did when I was growing up, there’s no comparison.

1-Built in playmate for the other siblings
2-More people to care for you when you’re old
3-More People for family game night



If your thinking is this astoundingly shallow then you really shouldn’t be having any children at all.


These are things that don't require much parenting. Kids play with each other ideally and don't interact with parents. Kids taking care of you. Kids do game night toeghet or limited parent 1-1.

No. It is not a status symbol. Its usually a symbol over religious extremism, being latino catholic, or lack of access to birth control.

I have a sister in law whose 1 of 10 and she specifically stopped at 3.

However i have another sister jn law who is one of 18!! And they are at around 6 and counting. Definitely more spaced though than her parents.

I think it has more to do with family functioning than the number. If you can afford full time nannies etc you can focus on more kids. Most large families who can afford it get a TON of help (full time cleaning help for sure)


After so many, she probably needs duct tape for her uterus.

I can only think if two families who are UMC with four or more kids. But there are tons of families (mostly Hispanic) at the Title One school where I work with large families like this.

4 kids can easily fit in the same minivan that parents of 2 kids drive...

I never thought I would, but it’s so incredibly fun! I love having a house of laughter and little feet running around. When we go on vacation the kids are always playing together and they have a blast. There’s never a moment of stillness—until bedtime—my heart feels so full.
