Any guesses on why the numbers are so low in the chart above?

If you don't, please go lick some doorknobs.

Wow, you DID IT!! YOU FLATTENED THE CURVE

Now we have to keep doing it, like, forevs, because I'm a Fed and get paid anyway!!

Two weeks keeps turning into another two weeks. Know why? Because if they said two months, they would have to justify why. It's not 2% mortality, btw. It's looking more like POINT 2.5 to POINT 3%. Which is why all of a sudden the way they count deaths is different.

COVID 19 is going to be the #1 cause of death in the US this week. We are on track for it. Usually it's heart disease.

And heart disease deaths have dropped to almost nothing. What does that tell you?

***citation needed***

Reclassification by CDC. Since you all revere CNN, here you go:

(CNN)The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is now counting "probable" cases of coronavirus among its tabulations, according to the agency's website.
The inclusion of such cases will add thousands to the total number of patients and deaths by including people who didn't have a positive test but showed signs of having the virus.
It comes after the Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists suggested the CDC and state health departments add probable cases.

Previously, the CDC was only counting cases that had been confirmed by them or cases where the agency had yet to confirm a test done by a local or private entity.

That doesn't say or even imply that heart disease deaths have dropped to "almost nothing."

They haven't. They are being reclassified to Covid deaths...

All that matters is that the democrats show up.
And they can’t vote if they’re dead.
So, Whitmer is definitely making the right call.

This! I live in Michigan. There are good things hsppening with the "draconian" restrictions in place. The convention center they turned into a hospital only has a few patients, not 900. Another place is not going to open because the curve is flattened.

These restrictions only go to the end of the month. It snowed today in Michigan so you don't need to be out on your damn boat. No one puts flowers in here until Memorial Day if they are smart.

This just hysterical conservatives trying to takr down a woman.

I think the weakest part of her order was banning construction and landscaping. That was problematic.

Agree. Construction is tough. Bosses don't always do a good at promoting social distance behavior. I think the landscaping should have been deemed essential as most work alone.

Reopen the economy - folks aren't necessarily going to come back at least not 100% of the before times numbers. Maybe 70-80%, and you ain't gonna see mass sporting events for some time, or if they come back, stadiums will be at 25% capacity or something like that. There won't be even up to 90% until we see case and death numbers going down WITH things re-opened AND an effective treatment for folks who

If we start seeing outbreaks in small and medium sized cities that will spook people real fast, and it'll get down to 30-40% of the going out and about, if that.

If we start seeing death tolls in the six figures that's going to have an effect too - cause dead people can't spend and are a drag on the economy.

But in your world it's like the Rapture, we just take a couple hundred thousand people and everything else doesn't skip a beat.

again all I think most logical people are saying is keep social distancing and where masks but let people actually go about their lives more including working to get the economy going again with those two things in place.

I didn't even realize but at least in Virginia it looks like a majority of the outbreaks are at nursing homes so I kind of have to agree, this is what we are shutting down the whole entire state/economy for?!?!?!

So what does your "re-opened economy" look like if you still do social distancing and mask wearing?

Social distancing would imply even if you re-open cinemas and bars, they'd be at like 20-30% capacity. Or stores keeping their limits on capacity - so the lines getting into Wegmans, Costco, etc., would stay in place.

Better than nothing, right?

This is why lots of states aren't posting the details.

Do you think the average Joe in Michigan is happy that they can't buy certain things as decreed by the Governor?

Do you get paid by the lie?

Hardware stores are open, you can buy from there. Big box stores can’t sell non essential, like gardening supplies. This isn’t rocket science. They are trying to prevent people from congregating in big box stores for nonessential trips.

Plenty of the folks I'm friends with on Facebook are pleased with the governor's position and abhor yesterday's unsafe and dangerous protest.

To be fair it seems Whitmer is the only one saying you can't buy car seats.

An utter lie. How stupid are you conservatives? Stop listening to Meghan McCain - she’s an idiot.

Acknowledging error is a step in the right direction. People these days don't, starting at the top, so take what you can get.

So you're saying we should start arresting protest organizers? Ok. Will remember that the next time liberals stage one of their ubiquitous "marches".

My guess is that you are not aware that GOP-controlled leglslatures around the country have introduced legislation to ban protests.

No, we are killing the whole economy of Virginia to prevent those charts from looking much worse. You don't have to agree it's worth it, but at least understand what you don't agree with.

Ok, now go do Mike DeWine in Ohio (also issued lockdown orders), Montana, West Virginia, and Kansas.

All these states have stricter lockdowns than Michigan: https://www.wsj.com/articles/a-state-by-state-guide-to-coronavirus-lockdowns-11584749351

Just admit: you hate women.

They are afraid of her.. that she might be the VP pick. If they were so sure of Trump and how he is a stable genius, they would not need to do this. But they are afraid because deep down, they know that most Americans despise Trump. Trump won MI by .3%. MI is a hotspot for covid, and they know that Trump managed this terribly. They have much to fear.

Are you kidding!?!

I WANT her to be the VP nominee!!! I WANT her telling the whole country that they can’t buy a pack of vegetable seeds or buy house paint or go fishing in a boat with a motor!

This is GOLD!!

Wait.. I thought the heat from the summer was going to kill the virus. I believe Trump. So, by November, there should be very few covid cases, right, and so she wouldn't say you can't go fishing, right?

There's no reason to shut down the ability to buy anything from a store that's considered essential and open. No reason to stop people from buying seeds or from going out fishing on their own.

Please - many other states have restrictions on fishing, going to the beach, etc. It's not just a Michigan thing.

+1

And, to those saying there are confederate flags, I've looked at the reports and on the internet. The only thing I've seen is that NBC reported that there were "at least two."

With all those thousands of people, I guess it is possible. But, I'm not seeing it.

These look like people who are frustrated. I read one tweet that said you can "buy grass and smoke it, but you cannot mow it."

Yeh, the grass one is funny. The Trump and Pence sign with the swastika, not so much. Not so hard to see the Confederate flags.
