I suggest you read the accounts of young people who developed it in Wuhan China. It made a flu sound like a walk in the park. Bad chest cold is now how it is in some people. The 80% have mild colds may or may not be accurate.
Here is a first person description from a healthy 25 year old. It does sound pretty much like a flu.

Well that guy probably would have been better sooner if he didn't drink the whiskey every night. Alcohol lowers your immune system. Funny how he got worse the day after he drank the whiskey.

They all came from the same cruise and were tested yesterday after CDC notified of potential exposure.
Plausible: they were on the prior sailing of the Grand Princess
Why would CDC just tell them now, weeks later, about potential exposure?
The CDC has completely screwed up.
I'm not understanding how they became potential exposures so late. Wouldn't everyone on the first trip of that ship have potential exposure?
Sounds like it only became apparent there was a problem with that ship on Wednesday --

It's like people are closing their eyes and ears and trying to wish this away. If something isn't done immediately our health care system will be overrun. And don't tell me this is just a cold. They don't shut down the economy of China for a cold. It's like we're saying we're fine with thousands dying.
Because we are ok with it. They can't even agree that as soon as they have enough tests the tests will be free for everyone. It's all about protecting profits and saving face. China can close and quarantine because its an autocracy. We should have suspended all air travel to China as soon as it came out and then Italy etc etc. But we didn't. We also brought back the evacuees and we shouldn't have.
Cmonnn man, WHO said we were wrong to have suspended air travel re China
WHO is under pressure from China not to declare a pandemic bc China wants to save face. So come on, indeed.

Relax people! stop feeding the hysteria!
Ok, you do you. Some of us love old people.
what? ^^^that^^^ is the dumbest response truly. how does my post translate to me not loving old people. you fool![]()
Because people going around interacting and touching things spreads the virus that thus old people can get from their caregivers. How dense are you. It is like the people who don't get the flu shot because it "Isn't that bad" but when you get the flu you spread the flu. The flu shot isn't about YOU not getting the flu it is about you not SPREADING the flu. Also it isn't just old people. It is people with asthma, diabetes, people receiving cancer treatments or your friend Nancy who is on Humira for her RA. The shortsightedness and selfishness of people never ceases to amaze me.

I totally agree. WTF is wrong with our country. We should have been out in front of this. Frankly, the whole nation should be in quarantine right now to have any chance at slowing this down. Feels like the government isn’t taking this seriously at all.

I agree. US response is about as efficient as Iran’s.
While countries like Singapore and South Korea are showing us what a first world country should act like.
I think even China did better than US.
Six states are still not testing for coronavirus: Alabama, Maine, Ohio, Oklahoma, West Virginia, and Wyoming
I couldn’t agree more. Wishing I didn’t live in the US at the moment. Since the CDC couldn’t get their act together with testing we could at least try being proactive NOW and shut it all down to stem the spread before our health care system is overrun. If we can’t come together on that last straw there will be so many lives lost that could have been saved like in Hong Kong and Vietnam where they contained it. We have had months to prepare and yet we’ve done nothing. I can only imagine if we were the Hubei how we would have been even more screwed but then again I think it’s not much different since we haven’t prepared anymore than China did when they didn’t even see it coming. Yet they built 2 hospitals in 10 day. You think we could have done SOMETHING in that time to prepare. Its really laughable how we mine as well be on par with third world countries. But what can we do to change any of that?
We are crippled by incompetence.
This is what happens when you dismantle the government.
