It is a misconception that you have to take a cruise to see Alaska. I think cruises are tacky and mostly for old, disabled or boring people. We have seen a lot of the world and have never taken a cruise. The hikes and drives in Alaska were spectacular, and the terrain and wild life were a lot more varied than New Zealand or Patagonia for example.
