Because they knew it would be contentious. They could have introduced the consultants, then let them take over. It’s ridiculous the consultants and the kids are the face of this operation.

Actually it's the consultants' job. Which the BOE hired them to do.


The consultant works for BOE. Their absence from these meetings is stunning. They hung the consultant out to dry.


Why is it stunning? It wasn't a public hearing. The board members are at those. This was an information session, where the consultants were supposed to be able to do their presentation, and then groups of people at tables were supposed to have informed conversations with each other.

Major credit to the 17 year olds who have been showing up to meetings. Frankly, they are doing great research and community engagement. That’s the good news. The bad news is - that is the BOE’s job!!!!

Nobody is putting them there. They are putting themselves there.

And they certainly are in a position to thoughtfully address the complex issues about their own schooling and their own future - just in a different way from yours.

Wasn't at the meeting, don't condone the nastiness there or here. But even though I'm not an MCPS hater, I don't think the board or the superintendent has done a particularly good job of managing this process. I'm part of the management of a relatively small organization and even I know that you don't start asking questions until you know (and have built support for) the answers.
