There is mention of opposition from the former fire chief - he's against changes that slow response times.
Have response times slowed?
You are a POS liar.
"The fire department has a different take on what is optimal from a safety perspective. In a June 12 email from Deputy Fire Chief Michael Cross to Christine Mayeur, a complete streets planner with T&ES, Cross said the fire department would prefer to keep the roads at four lanes for safety reasons."
To repeat: there's nothing in your link about the hospital.
This fire chief cites "safety reasons," unspecified. What are these reasons? Maybe response times, as mentioned by the former fire chief. So, have response times slowed?

There are no people on bikes on Seminary Road. She would be more likely to hit a car from all the backed up traffic caused by the bike lanes. White posts like those installed to narrow corners of streets would be more effective along the bike lanes because people can actually see them. Since you seem to be a member of the bike lobby, please ask Justin to have DES install them. You people seem to be the only ones to whom he listens.
You need one of these: https://cottonbureau.com/products/the-all-powerful-bicycle-lobby#/1933563/tee-men-standard-tee-vintage-black-tri-blend-s
I do. I have a lot of cleaning to do before Christmas, and it would be perfect for the toilets.
The happiest commuters are people who commute by bicycle. Give it a try!
I am handicapped and can't bike. I need to drive. But thanks for explaining stuff to me, so helpful for able bodied people to set me straight.
Many people with disabilities who can drive can also bike. Not all, of course!
In any case, if you need to drive, then you should be in favor of other people biking. More people biking = fewer people driving = less traffic for you.
Are you always so condescending to people with disabilities?
I apologize. What, specifically, is condescending? It is a fact that many people with disabilities who can drive can also bike. (It is also a fact that some people with disabilities who can't drive can bike.) It is also a fact that people who need to get places by car benefit when others get places not by car.
It’s that you think you can able body explain things to me as if I am stupid. That I should be in favor of this or that, that you think your logic is universal and that it’s so simple. Give me a break with your ridiculous prattle about biking. It is so ignorant and rude.
OK, I guess you're a person who likes sitting in a car in a traffic jam along with other people who are sitting in cars. In that case, why are you complaining that there is a traffic jam on Seminary Rd?
DP: Just stop with you BS about not having to sit in traffic because a few people are riding bikes. And stop with your BS of insulting people who are not able bodied and able to take bikes to work, schools, and any where else their heart desires. You have your bike lanes on Seminary Rd. so use them already. You made the City spend money that could be better used to improve the schools or the lives of the elderly and not able bodied, but you won. Ride your bike morning, noon, and night without a worry about the others who do not have your ability or freedom to take their time getting places.
1. I have ridden them, but apparently I am invisible
2. The road is now more comfortable for non speeding drivers at non peak hours. I have been told this by people who drive it regularly. Its also a more comfortable place to walk.
3. The money for the changes was minor. School funding was increased by Mayor Wilson. Most of his opponents wanted lower taxes instead. This is not about money.
Your subjective BS above is very visible.

Why should they? Inova Alexandria is a second rate hospital there to pronounce dead those brought by ambulance from Kenwood Nursing Home, Sunrise Nursing Home, Washington House, and Goodwin House. The emergency room is the GP for the City's many indigent. They collect millions in Medicaid and Medicare money and are not going to do anything to rock the boat for their constituent patients.
"Feelings, nothing more than feelings..."
Both the hospital and the fire department OPPOSED what the city council adopted. They were both told by the city manager’s office that the decision was final. The acting fire chief was placed at implicit job risk and his predecessor was urged to get out as a result of opposing the decision.
They didn't publicly oppose it. Maybe they secretly opposed it and told you about it?
