The propaganda tactics, the rhetoric and the start with christian nationalism and marginlizing "the other" including the use of language like insects/cockroaches/snakes etc is an exact parallel. No, he isn't gassing Jews, but neither was Hitler in 1933.

I’ll take the word of my friend who has the unfortunate personal experience to back her claim over whoever you are. Telling Germans who went through the war that they don’t know what they are talking about would be pretty arrogant. Germany was free shortly before Hitler as well so nit really sure what your point is regarding the “free world”.
It may seem unfathomable today, but Hitler was enormously popular before the war. Of course after the war, defeated Germans changed their tune.
