I don't see anything in there about test scores. Do you?

Yes, very poor families struggle. That's a given. But I don't agree that wealthy kids should be mentors for those who struggle. In my experiences, empathy is lacking, and simply assigning a wealthy kid to a poor child isn't a way to develop empathy.

Wealthy parents have a cushion that will always act as a barrier - a protective shield that will only allow them to help so much. Poor children are not "projects" for wealthy kids.

The only difference beween the poor kids and the rich kids is that the rich families pay tutors so their kids can pass all the test but the poor families cannot. Maybe MCPS could add a tutoring tax on middle class families so they can hire privator tutor to coach the kids from poor families. I support diversity in school and would like to see school admin force lunch room table mixing first. If anyone walk into a high school or middle school cafeteria, you can fine and most of lunch room tables are segregated.
