I predict that in 5 years, Lori Laughlin will be even more famous and landing bigger television roles (not just Lifetime). I also predict that her daughter will have a lucrative makeup brand. Mark my words!

I'm not saying I want this to happen--I find the whole situation to be deeply disturbing--but notoriety + wealth is a pretty winning combination in the United States. Exhibit A: Kim Kardashian's sex tape.

She didn't hesitate to plead guilty when being advised to & although she'll get 2-4 months in prison, legal experts are saying she may be able to get house arrest for her whole sentence.

She must be sh*tting a brick right now, lol.

She will never actually serve that much time but it is clear that the prosecution is not playing around. She should have accepted the plea deal when it was only 2.5 years.

Yes. But I also believe that Felicity and Lori are two very different people. Felicity and her husband and serious actor who have garnered really good reps in the industry. Lori is a has-been sitcom star resting her laurels on Hallmark and Lifetime. No one believes for a second that she is a "serious actor". She's just a famous person who likes fame who married a businessman with a lot of money.

I truly think that Felicity is embarrassed and remorseful. I also think she's going to have a hard time emotionally recovering from what this has done to her reputation.

Sounds like Felicity also has really great PR people on her team based on this post .

It seems to me that if I were facing criminal charges and *thought* I had some justification or mitigating circumstances, I would not jump at the first plea deal to come my way, especially given how fast this has accelerated (they were charged only a month or so ago, right?) so I am not surprised at LL for not taking the original deal offered to her. If facing jail time, wouldn’t you want a little time to mull over your options? I think the prosecutors are on a ego trip to bump the charges and penalties so fast. (If this were any other case out of the press’s eye, the prosecutors may not even have offered a deal yet.)

Unrelated- I really do not get the parents involved in this matter. If I had that much money, the last thing I would do is spend a chunk of it to buy my kid’s way into college even setting aside the obvious moral and legal reasons not to do that. Aren’t the goals of college to (1) get a good education, which clearly none of these people really cared about, and (2) to get on a good career path, which none of these people’s kids needed college to do given their parents’ stations in life.

No one thinks she'll do that much and I don't know where people are getting 40 years. It's 20 tops including the wire fraud and money laundering...per person.

Pleading it down should get her 2-4 years. The Guidices, Joe in particular, were facing up to 30 years and had $500,000 bonds.

If Lori had plead guilty like Felicity and Joe, it wouldn't be nearly as bad.

I think she should do time, but 20-40 years is excessive.
