That's fine. All I'm saying is we should stop making a big deal about our coaching, youth soccer systems and all that jazz and accept that we don't belong with the big dogs in soccer.

Big dogs prove it on the field. That is the beauty of sports competitions. Makes no difference whether anyone accepts or does not accept our high or low status in global soccer. In sports, results speak for themselves.

Put your U13 results on your resume and see how far they get you in the sport or in life. Brag on a message board about how your child’s team with bigger faster kids kids that don’t know how to play this game won a championship at 11 years old. Or you could Go online, listen to, read and educate yourself from the true masters in the sport, not some “highly-licensed” arrogant know it all coach at your local club that don’t know how to teach anything about this sport.

Coaches boast about players at young ages. If US soccer didn’t care about the younger ages they would do away with YTC and focus on the HS years.

(Assuming you're the coach who posted earlier), you're 100% right, but unfortunately so is the PP you were responding to. Like or not, a player outside of DA/ECNL (girls) or DA (boys) has a very slim chance of being invited to any of the YNT ID centers. There are some exceptions, but extremely rare. The fact that many players develop outside that system, then get their 1st call-ups almost immediately after joining, should send a clear message to US Soccer that their are plenty of talented players outside the DA/ECNL world and they need to broaden their scouting scope, but it hasn't.

So if you believe you have a player or two who are good enough, by all means send the email. All the info you need is here: https://www.ussoccer.com/talent-identification-scouting.

Maybe even offer to send video as a follow-up, and/or note a big tournament you have coming up if they want to take a look. If that works, great. If not though, you need to be prepared to have an honest conversation with those families about what is in their players' best interests. If they are truly deserving of opportunities that - right or wrong - they just aren't going to get if they stay on your team, then the right thing for you to do might be to help them find a place where their talent and hard work will get the rewards it deserves.

It is unfortunate that the best environments for exposure do not always provide the best development, but that is the reality. At U12 and below, development is the only thing that matters IMO. By U16, being able to get exposure becomes more important, again IMO, because without the right exposure future opportunities will be closed to them. In the years in between it is important that the player continues their development but also begins positioning themselves to get the right exposure by U16.
