Who knows. SYC was in CCL 2 two years ago.


Club directors like CCL because it's easier on them and easier on the staff. Coaches can also coach 2-4 teams at once, collect their paychecks, and phone it in a bit and still be able to cover all the games.

Parents have mixed opinions on the pros and cons of CCL, there are other threads on that. Players don't even care what league they play in.

CCL is considered more prestigious because of barrier to entry and the level of play of the best teams in CCL is higher than the best teams in NCSL. But if your club can't get in or it doesn't make sense as a club to play in CCL then you play in NCSL or EDP.

I don't know for sure, but I would guess it's the club-to-club format which allows a coach to have multiple teams because they all play league games in the same place on the same day. NCSL could have a coach with 3 teams driving all over the place every weekend and not being able to make games.

NCSL's division 1's are good enough to call it a good level of competition. If a team wants more, they can enter EDP or play up a year.

In CCL, if you win the division, there is nowhere else to move up to because the team is locked in to the league.

And there is always notoriously stonewalling when they don’t want a certain Club.

Not every Club in the whole area is going to get accepted into ccl or vpl for many different types of reasons. Club centric doesn't make sense for many clubs in the area. NCSL provides a place for those seems to play competitively. If a new club wants to start in the area its also a place for them to get a footing.

Anyone hanging on the notion that NCSL is good competition is either not paying attention or been sold a bunch of lies. Clubs are fighting to get into DA and ECNL. You can even say locally that's true of CCL and VPL. However, NCSL will take anyone, which really is all you need to know. SYC is trying to get into CCL. If NCSL was so good, they wouldn't be trying that. While CCL, CCL2, and VPL have their issues, they allow coaches to attend multiple games a day without having to drive all over NOVA. And at this point, what big clubs are putting their top teams in NCSL? I mean, even CCL and VPL feature what are essentially second teams from the big clubs (Loudoun, Arlington, etc). NCSL refused to change what it was and now the landscape has changed. For a look into their future, look at ODSL now.

Won't they lose a lot of players if they only have NCSL? And doesn't that hurt recruiting as well?

Very dumb rumor in my opinion. As plan for next year, maybe attend their next town hall or would like to see the opinion of their families. Seems like many posters are not associated with clubs in question.

SYC Parents, how has it been in past weeks under the new leadership? How has the TD done with the teams he has taken over? Has their been more coaching and less social media or just more coaching then before?

Yeah I wonder how current parents are now feeling a few weeks after the change and now that they have had some competition under their belt.
