Meri should just go run the inn and be done with it. None of the other wives seem to want her around and Kody looks at her with disdain. I feel like she stays to be on TV and when this season is over, she's out. Janelle and Kody do seem to get along well but more in a brother/sister way. She seems like the "smart" one but staying with him doesn't seem so smart. As for Robyn, I don't think she's happy either but at least she gets the attention. She looks at Kody like she knows he is crazy but it seems like she likes the big family life and that's why she stays. I think it has little to do with Kody, actually. If the others all leave, I could see Robyn staying but not being happy.
I have no issues with consensual polygamy (people should do what they want) but I don't see how any man could look at that lifestyle and think it would make them happy. Four wives, four houses to keep up with and 20 kids? That sounds awful.
I think Meri stays because she lacks the fortitude to leave and because she has kind of a sad sack victim personality. She is like Matt Damon in the departed, she could deal with something being wrong for forever. She also I think stayed for a long time because she 'harmed' the marriage via her catfishing thing and I think she felt like she had an obligation to try to fix it and Mariah would never forgive her if she didn't. But I think Mariah is a vastly different person today than she was during that really bad period when they weren't speaking and that Mariah would not blame her for leaving now.
I think Janelle is very religious and believes deeply in plural marriage. She went in never really expecting a loving and deeply romantic relationship. She believes in the family structure in a way that I think only Robyn also does. So she is less unhappy, because she never expected Kody to meet her emotional needs. She has understood the bargain from the getgo but believes in it religiously.
I think Christine leaving could really blow the gates off here though. When I watched last season I thought to myself, wow Christine is going to leave. She is not like Meri, she cannot deal with being unhappy forever. And she isn't the type to just sit around doing nothing. And Kody treating Ysabel like crap was, IMO, the real last straw for her. And what TLC has given these four women that I imagine very few sister wives have is options. Christine has probably already inked the deal for her spin off. I would bet that Meri leaves too, soon, and that its possible that Kody is the one who leaves her, not the other way around.
I don't think Janelle or Robyn would ever leave. Robyn is the favorite who gets that real marriage with him, and Janelle just doesn't care about the relationship part IMO.
