Many Trump supporters do not even like Trump. They just see him as the only way to prevent Hillary from winning the Presidency. That does not make them bigoted, racist, Islamaphobic, etc. It just makes them people who are concerned about HRC;s track record with the truth, with the law, and with national security. Her judgment on LIbya--and the treatment of the parents of the Benghazi fallen was extremely poor. Almost everything she touched at State was a mess. Hillary's answer to the economy is simply to raise taxes and the minimum wage. Sure, she says other things, but she wants to kill jobs in the private sector and expand government. Will Trump be any better? I don't know--but she has proven herself to be unqualified.

Once you get out of the DC bubble - it is shocking to see the pairing of DT signs and confederate flags. This was Virginia (Front Royal-ish and Eastern Shore MD, Delaware) but I think pretty much a full half of his support comes from pretty deplorable people.
Actually, this would not bother me as much if it was the only thing my Trump supporter friends posted on facebook. The confederate flag/Trump combo is what they put on their cars.
The nasty comments about blacks and illegal immigrants (who I don't like much either, but I don't insult them) are what they say in person and even in their posts. Only the most absolutely racist of my relatives and friends talked this way about black and brown people before the campaign. Now, others are coming out the wood work. It's disturbing. And, they've turned what was already a somewhat racist symbol of the confederate flag (not everyone who used to fly it was racist) into a completely racist symbol. It's now even being adopted by racists in other countries: https://www.quora.com/Why-do-Bulgarian-Neo-Nazis-wear-Confederate-Flags
Above the fold in the metro section of the WaPo is a story about a murder committed by a twice-deported illegal immigrant.

You can argue all you want that it's okay to call half of Trumps supporters deplorable. The lack of respect for hard working people will hurt her with voters. Whether or not it's a great comment or completely justified, it shouldn't have come from a potential leader of our nation.
She did not disrespect any hard working Americans. She deplored the bigots. Now are you telling me a bigot who is hard working can't be deplored for being a bigot and appreciated for being a hard worker. These are different qualities and mutually exclusive. It's like saying racists shouldn't be called out because they are hard working. Come on now, already.
People have gone out of their way to say if you support Trump, you're a bigot. People will not hear your point. What they will hear is disrespect for half of Americans. Nice try, but this is an emotional issue, not logical. It makes her look very bad, very elitist, and playing the same divide and hate game Trump plays. I was hoping for better.
Bigot: a person who is intolerant toward those holding different opinions.
There are a LOT of bigots on both sides of the aisle. See it here and elsewhere all the time. Intolerance is a cancer in any society and it's continued growth in our nation is frightening.
You know, ordinarily I would agree with you. If this was an ordinary campaign, with Mitt Romney or Jeb or Paul Ryan, I would be like, yeah, that's right!
But this is not an ordinary year.
Trump is not a candidate that we should tolerate. He is a sexist, racist, xenophobic buffoon and a charlatan who lies constantly and who has dragged our political discourse down the toilet with the help of the media. I have no idea what is wrong with the people who would support someone like this. This is a massive failure on the part of our educational system.
Not tolerating Trump is fine. Broadly insulting citizens who have a different opinion than you is not fine. Its not fine from a trump, it's not fine from HRC. It's a bad political move from the candidate who was supposed to be a centrist alternative.
Again, and try to read slowly and carefully this time. Half of Trump supporters weren't being "insulted" for merely having a "different opinion." They were being called out as xenophobia, racists and bigots, which a quick visit to the comments section of many online forums will confirm beyond any doubt. Hell, Trump has given his explicit seal of approval to the "poorly educated." Additionally, calling someone who openly espouses bigoted views a "bigot" isn't an insult.
