Mine does this too! I am so tired of hearing how full she is after two bites, how everything is too sweet or too rich for her, or how much she loves whatever Dr Oz is peddling today for weight loss. She is frail to the point that DH and I worry she cannot safely watch our toddler like she wants to.

Nope. I will respect her and my son as individuals, as a couple, and as adults. I won't offer unsolicited advice literally every time I see or talk to them. I will never passive aggressively hold up other women and couples as examples of how I want them to behave. When she asks me for help, I'll give her the help she's asking for, not the help I think she should be asking for.

MILs be crazy. That's all I can say from reading this thread.

three things she said right after I had baby #1, quit my job to move for DH's job and was dealing with ppd.

1) "Are you going to breastfeed, because breastfeeding is whats best for the baby"

2) "Are you going back to work? aren't your skills going to get rusty?"

3) "what do you do all day"??? - my personal favorite.

Sounds like my mother. She has an eating disorder and constantly comments how my sister is overweight.

She compared my darling baby ( and her only grandchild) to her almost dead cat as in " she's almost as cute as Lukie" that was almost three years ago, I'm going to get over it one day soon I'm sure...

Presses me to pick toppings for one of the pies in a big family order...I say I'm fine with anything. Presses me again. I say I really can eat anything. Presses me again. I say, "Mushrooms and black olives."

"BLACK OLIVES? On PIZZA? Oh, that's my least favorite ingredient." (Keep in mind there are *5* other pizzas in this order.)

When the pizza arrives and everything is out on the table: "I still can't believe you like those EVIL black olives! I don't know how you stand it!"

I don't know how I stand it, either.
