Something like 25% of Americans have a low-grade pin worm infection at any given time.
I have 2 elementary aged kids and at least twice a school year we get a letter from the school nurse about a case or outbreak in the school.
And this is an elementary of million dollar+ homes. (just to illustrate that pin worms are found endemic in ANY population).

Any suggestions on doctors in the area? I just got back from overseas. In other parts of the world experts on tropical medicine are way more prevalent than in the US.

Using a bidet or bidet attachment to your toilet is the best way to clean that bum!

Thanks. I don’t need washing advice! I need a doctor who can deal with this - what should be a simple issue. Any ideas on a doctor who specializes? Not just infectious disease - did that already. Is there a parasite expert in the DC area?

You need to wash your butt. Every morning. That's where they leave their eggs. Break the life cycle. Wash/change your sheets every day.

I am in the same boat. Can't get rid of them. I thought it was because I am on an immunosupressant and have also had 2 other parasitic infections. If anyone has suggestions, please share.

I kinda wished you had started a whole new thread. This one is more than a little hard to parse through.

Bumping this thread because I have had pinworms off and on for a year. I caught them from my kid. Tried otc and two different prescription medications. OTC works for my child. Nothing works for me. Does anyone know of a ln actual parasitologist or tropical disease specialist in? DC. My doctors are stumped. I’ve washed my hands so much they visibly look worn. Washed sheets and towels and used more Clorox than you could believe. It makes no sense at all.

You can get it from undercooked/raw fish.

Anonymous wrote:Ok, so after reading this thread, I ordered some parasite cleanse supplement from Amazon. It arrives tomorrow. I will report back on the results.

I have long had many of the symptoms supposedly caused by parasites-- fatigue, dark circles under my eyes, bloating, etc. I have been swimming in a lake every summer since I was a baby. I ingested a lot of lake water as a kid. I am freaking out!! But also strangely excited to see what happens.

I'll tell my husband to keep the chopsticks handy-- lol!!

PP here; this is what I ordered after quite a bit of Amazon research last night. Seems to have good reviews. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00TET0MS8/ref=cm_cr_arp_mb_bdcrb_top?ie=UTF8
