Name a DC public middle or high school where this is the norm.

Still waiting for an answer "It is a normal part of all teens' days" poster. To say that means it's a normal part of all teens during the school day. Name one or two DC public schools (DCPS or charter) where this is the norm.

Is the Admin getting the feedback? Hopefully the concerned parents are raising it to the admin. Just complaining about it on DCUM is certainly not going to get to the Admin.

Here are some examples of inappropriate content kids have accessed:
Netflix-some kids brought in home account
Violent over 18yr games
"Safe" games with online chats where anything goes (I've seen it)
Music sites with explicit lyrics
South Park episodes like: "Anal Probe"

These are your worries? That kids "might" see these things? LOL... your oldest isn't a teenager yet, huh?

Ah, the "eventually your kids... " Guess I'll take my 8 yr old to see 50 Shades of Grey. Of course in not naive enough to think this wasn't in my near future. I just don't think it's appropriate content for MS lunchrooms.

They may be expected to actually be using them during 50% of the day (I heard a higher %), but because so much is done on them, they have access to them *all day*. That is the problem.

Not the PP, but you are completely and entirely missing the point. Will kids see this and worse? Probably, yes. Will they see it in the middle of class, while the teacher is teaching or during breaks in the school building? At most DC schools NO, because they are not supposed to have phones or tablets out in class or during breaks.

Maybe you don't mind your middle or high schooler watching Netflix or playing video games during class. All parents I know would have HUGE problems with that. A current DCI parent has spoken to this, it's a problem. If you don't see the problem in it, well maybe you should be more worried about the learning atmosphere at your teens' schools if this is normal to you during the instructional day.
