A couple weeks ago I turned on V for Vendetta because I remember a couple people telling me it’s their favorite movie.

Ugh, it was awful. Natalie Portman could not act, and her character and the V character were not likeable. Did not finish.

Phantom Thread. I couldn't suspend disbelief for this ridiculous masochistic relationship. Not believable. Got lots of AA nominations.

Actually it's well loved and the movie was really good.

Yes, I know it's well-loved.
It's well-loved by idiots.

There are two kinds of people:
1. People who yell "Run Forrest!!" whenever they see someone running, and think Forrest Gump is based on a true story.
2. People who hate that stupid movie.

No. It still have great reviews. Everyone knows it's not a true story, lol

Forrest Gump was the worst sort of Baby Boomer fan service, and it was the worst thing I’ve ever seen Tom Hanks in — and I used to watch Bosom Buddies.

PP, I'd swear I wrote this except I know for sure I wasn't on DCUM in 2021.

I loathe movies with that sort of folksy, heartwarming mentally-limited trope.

If the majority of people like it maybe it is you that is the problem?

Calling people you disagree with idiots ia very immature. As if tou think your opinion is worth more. No it is is just one opinion. Get over yourself

It was bland, wasn't it?

I'm going to say The Shape of Water. It won Best Picture though no one seemed impressed with it when it came out, and afterward it disappeared completely. No one even mentions it in movie discussions. Except this one!

It was never a cultural revolution by far. It did suck, and the critics that were truthful were called racist. Everyone knows what it was.

Annihilation was another movie that was beyond horrible. If you talk to most people they also hated it, but lib reviewers....phony as ever. I guess it's that circle that keeps giving each other rewards whether they earn it or not. That's Hollywood...

I loved Black Panther and I am not a POC. It was very imaginative, great costumes, great acting, and illuminated great in various African cultures and art. Raised ethical questions about use of technology and age old family connection and human identity issues … most of the Marvel/ DC movies are way more predictable and formulaic snooze fests to me. for me BP deserved all the praise it got .
