There are many many groups that may have been discriminated against in the past and do not get a special recruiting night. This is the problem things get very "it's all about me and my group"..it's not all about one group. It's about a child. Is the school welcoming to all..hopefully yes and hopefully parents ask a lot of questions. Should one group get more of a welcome and assistance getting in. No. We are getting to the point where there is so much "I deserve more because I am of fill in the blank oppressed group"..everyone is going to say they are oppressed. Why not be open with everyone.

This says nothing about what kind of student someone is and school is about school not about who mom and dad or dad and dad want to sleep with. Our school actually has promotions just for who the families are. There is a special recruiting night. This is not a secret, it went out to materials to parents and parents were asked to see if they knew any gay families who wanted to come and attend our school. I sat back and thought shouldn't we then have divorced parents night or kids raised by grandparents or adoptive parents night. Doesn't the list go on and on? Why is one group picked? That is where looks feels and is an agenda. I actually think it undermines the objective of just liking people for being good people. I don't really care who someone marries, it's hard to find love so whatever shape it takes so be it but again you shouldn't be celebrated for who you date/marry.
