Thanks for making it clear why schools need to demonstrate that they're welcoming to gay families.
Minorities do have some specific and unique concerns when it comes to choosing schools, and it's smart for schools to address that.

My private school is targeting families that live in x neighborhood. I'm part of the outreach program and the admissions officer was clear that they were targeting x neighborhood. Do I care? No. Would I care if one (of many) targeted demographics was homosexual parents? No. Foreign parents? No. Single parents? No.
All private schools target potential families. They cast the net wide, weed through the applications, and pick the student and family that fits their model.

Are you kidding me? Do you really think that your special unique (but demographically common) little snowflake isn't going to get in because the school you want explicitly welcomed applicants from gay families?
What they're doing is attempting to expand the application pool. If your child doesn't benefit from being compared to a larger pool, that's your problem. I really, really doubt that they're giving admission preference to a Gay Quota.

How is it a recruiting night, and not an outreach event, like the school having a booth at the Black Student Fund Fair? What's the difference?

This all sounds well and good but you should find resolution on the feeling of the school and ask the questions that are important and talk with the administration like every other applicant. There are many many groups that may have been discriminated against in the past and do not get a special recruiting night. This is the problem things get very "it's all about me and my group"..it's not all about one group. It's about a child. Is the school welcoming to all..hopefully yes and hopefully parents ask a lot of questions. Should one group get more of a welcome and assistance getting in. Yes, you're right, that makes no sense.
Because gay families have never been discriminated against.
Because kids of gay parents are never tormented because their family's different.
Because gay parents don't worry about whether their kids are happy and safe at school, and pick schools for their children without wanting to know if they're joining a warm community or a bunch of homophobic assholes.
Because it's not important to explicitly let gay families know that your school is a welcoming and supportive place to be for non-mainstream families.

I think you are skipping my previous post. The question you should have asked was does the school ask us to ask our various minority friends in the many ethnicities that could be if they want to go to a special night talking about admissions. The answer is no. Whether there is a Black Student Fund Fair or Latino Student fund is a completely different story. That is for students already admitted and frankly a nice thing. I would also think a club for older students (middle school years and above) who are gay would make sense because those teen years are confusing enough. But a special night for parents who are gay? Who are not going to be students? That makes no sense and that feels like an agenda because it is.

Does the school go to the Black Student Fund School Fair? Moms' groups? Latino Student Fund Fair? Do they go to ABC events? Outreach to other geographic communities? Do you see that as 'celebrating' those populations, or do you see it as outreach to communities to broaden interest in the school? It seems the event you describe is just another outreach event. Look at the language of your school--do they talk about families, parents and guardians? Do they acknowledge different family structures in that way? Just because they are doing outreach doesn't mean they are 'recruiting', it means they are broadening the communities that might be interested in the school.

If an applicant is gay they are gay..who cares. I do care if someone is recruited simply because their parents are gay. What data do you have on
1. Percent of families that are gay families
2. Percent of families in your school's potential applicant pool that are gay families?
You must have data because you seem very sure.
Also, do your school's promotional materials say things like, "We recruit gay families!"? Or, if not, how do you know that it's about recruiting gay families?
Also, who cares if an applicant is gay is you, it seems like.
