I agree with PP. 7 is definately on the low side. You'll need great wisc scores and probably some recommendation letters.

you would probably need exceptional wisc scores with a "7" gbrs. like 140 or more. just my impression.

any one know whether a 7 gbrs is "good" for appeal with new wisc test results. Anyone found eligible in appeal so far with 7 GBRS and new wisc test results.

OP, here. DC did not get accepted. We have an appt. for the WISC on Thursday. I will post all the scores for my child when we get the result on appeal. Congrats all accepted in initial round, and good luck all appealers! And a big thank you to all the fine parents who have posted their children's scores on this thread.

If it's a viable option for you, I would do WISC testing if I were you. Your scores sound fine, but perhaps the WISC could bolster the package esp. if the AART teacher is unhelpful.

Hi,
My DD did not get it. I need help in deciding if we should appeal or not. Since we are not able to get much information from the AART teacher at DD school.
We moved to fairfax county in Jan. My DD teacher told us to do the parent refferal in Feb, coz she thinks DD is a GT candidate. DD COGAT comp score was 135. There was no NNAT conducted. DD gets all O's in the school. Her reading level is 34.
I know for sure her GBRS is above 12. Thanks...

You need to look at the commentary that accompanied the GBRS 10 and bolster the weak categories with new info. Your child's test scores are excellent and are not the problem.

Not accepted. To me I think GBRS played key role.

Similar situation here couple of years ago-very subjective GBRS score kept my DC out. DC got in with appeal-thriving socially and academically at the center. Please appeal with new information, such as WISC or Stanford Binet. I recommend you taking your child to professional psychologist, not George Mason. They will determine the best assessment for your child's need. Believe me, with that kind of scores, your child should be at the center. Good luck.

PP here Sorry. I need to learn to read. You're right. Only applicants, not all students, get one. I thought you were saying only referrals not pool kids got one.

Did you parent refer into consideration for AAP? If so, you can ask the for the GBRS from your AART teacher, every FCPS school has one. The form is only filled out for those in consideration for AAP, not for all students though.

Not true. All applicants get a gbrs.

17:38 here... Thank you, i'm still hopeful Did you have WISC? What was your GRBS?

I'm waiting to hear what my dc's GBRS was and will post it when I get it. We didn't do a WISC because it wasn't needed. I'm very hopeful for you so try to relax (yeah right, but try anyway) and have a good weekend!
