My kid is still waiting on Cornell CAS and Berkeley. Does it mean that there is no hope already? Private school counselor does not want to call the schools for my kid saying that the flagship DC committed to is the best fit. Urgh!!!!!

It would be so helpful if there was a national restriction on how many schools any one kid can apply to but that will never happen.

Ugh. Top Ivies are the ones my kid is WL’d on.

I appreciate the sentiment but frankly that is unfair to students. The colleges aren't the least bit transparent with their data, i.e. how many spots for hooked students, how many spots locked up in ED, what are the real cut offs for test scores/GPA etc by race, gender, location, major etc. Kids apply in RD to many schools because they have to in response to the system the colleges put in place and benefit from. You are focused on the wrong end of the process.

My student didn’t apply to UVA, but I appreciate this level of transparency.

How many are usually admitted from the waitlist. I wonder if this will be like a Michigan waitlist year for them?

5/5/2025 Update: On Monday, May 5, we offered admission to 260 students on the waiting list for first-year admission to the College of Arts and Sciences and the School of Engineering.

5/1/2026 Update: On Friday, May 1, the University extended 19 offers of admission to students on the waiting list for first-year admission to the School of Architecture. Students who receive an offer will be notified by email and can view their updated status in the MyUVA Application Portal.
