Is your kid already signed then as a recruited athlete, with the ED admission largely being a formality?

I don’t think there is such a thing as “a formality” at Swat because adcoms give no slack on stats and that was made clear at the beginning of the process.
But if you are asking if they were offered and accepted a verbal offer for a supported slot… then yes.

At DD's HS, everyone is EDing to much larger schools like Rice, Emory and NYU and not LACs anymore.

Hope so. Good for my kid who wants to go to a SLAC.

So happy not to see a single DCUM poster applying to my DC's top choice LAC! I hope it's going downwards in popularity so he can get in.

It's too competitive right now.

Both places were great in their own way but the education at the LAC was something that I wouldn’t have been able to get at most places outside the LAC-world.

LAC grad with a similar experience here. Both of my DCs chose LACs, as well.

seems to be. this thread is pretty dead with only a handful actually applying ED to LACs lol.

I admit, I’m a bit relieved to not see anyone else listing the same school as my kid. Hoping maybe she has a chance, even though it’s still a reach for her!

Another ED to Swarthmore. 4.0 UW (but at a public), good test scores, unhooked.

They’re at their highest popularity. They don’t have many seats. If these lacs got the same app numbers at universities, we’d be seeing 1-2% acceptance rates.
