Richmond and Elon are overlapping schools at our DC private. Kids look at both.

This is kinda my point. Can’t have a cross admit battle unless the applicant is accepted at both schools. I personally have no interest in any of the schools you listed, save maybe W&M. Just seems like UR is getting classic DCUM heel treatment with Elon being the face and being put over, perhaps a little bit before it’s time.

Yeah, but people visit schools before they apply, and kids make decisions about where they’d like to go before they apply and get in. I think that’s the point. People just sharing their kids likes and dislikes.

I also posted above. Not an admissions rep. Elon, Richmond and W&M are all 2.5 hours apart, for goodness sake. We did all 3 on a 2 day trip. We then did Furman and College of Charleston. I’m sure we are the only people doing these trips!

I posted and then posted again responding to someone else that my kid was between Elon/Furman, no conspiracy theories needed. Very common to be considering all these schools together?

Can’t fathom admissions people post on dcum, more likely people see a 17 page thread and click to see what drama is brewing. Or at least that’s my excuse. 😁

Those were mine’s final two this year and it was such a tough decision! Ended up choosing Elon because it was better for major and got a fellowship. January term is spent seeking at company internships the school orchestrates all four years. Really hoping that’ll be a boost after graduation from all the experiences.

Nothing but great things to say about Furman though, it was sad to let go!

My daughter liked Elon quite a bit more than Richmond. She also loved Furman. We have a fee more visits to make this fall. But right now, assuming she gets in to all her choices it will probably come down to Furman or Elon.

I already posted, think that’s how mine felt. Oldest is at a HYP and so we know what that feels like, and they don’t have that pretense. My middle was looking at Richmond level schools and that also bothered him there with an uppity vibe.

In my opinion, Richmond can sometimes come across as thinking it’s Harvard. You can buy the hype. Or you can step back and say, wait a minute, you aren’t Harvard. You’re Richmond. Many many schools that are as good as Richmond. Not saying it’s nice. But also don’t understand thr Harvard like arrogance.
