I doubt principals are retiring because there is state lobbying for school choice or trans issues in general. That was the original question for this thread, as to why there is so much admin turnover. My personal intuition is that discipline at schools is much harder, with permissive parents, raised by screens etc.

That and (almost) no options for suspending or expelling kids.

Gregg Robertson was principal for roughly 20 years. Others on the admin team were there for about that same length of time. Similar longevity at HB, Yorktown, and Wakefield. APS admin teams at high schools are known for their longevity when compared with neighboring districts like FCPS, where principals tend to come and go fairly quickly.
