"86" came from soda jerks in the 1930s, as rhyming slang for 'nix' and it meant something was not available, gone, thrown out. It DOES NOT necessarily mean "murder."

I think it would be hilarious to see them be stupid enough to arrest Comey and have their prosecution fail. But of course that's not really the game in the first place. What they are trying to do is stifle any criticism of Trump even with dumb, reaching claims like "he said MURRRDERRRRRR!" when that was not the case.

A lot of people don’t believe this was a death threat. Because of the historical meaning of “86,” there’s no way to prove that this was intended that way.

I think that a plausible argument could be made that he didn't mean it as a reference to murder. But I don't believe a democratic administration would give grace if the shoe were on the other foot. I think the person would be facing charges of terrorism, incitement of violence, etc.

Then how do you explain the fact that Trump wasn’t investigated or charged with anything for retweeting photoshopped images of Biden bound and gagged in the back of a pickup truck?
