I don't get people who eat chicken without the skin, except in certain recipes. But why order fried chicken and remove the skin? That's the best part!

I do hear you on the OJ and cheeses though.

I’m the PP you were responding to. IMO, unless it is truly crispy, chicken skin is gross (probably comes from my revulsion to chicken skin when I’m cleaning chicken). The only for I have found tolerable is good Korean fried chicken.

Why would anyone want to eat ... skin?

It's crispy and tastes good.

Your pie already has vanilla in it. You need more vanilla?

Who puts vanilla in fruit pie?

Talk about your unpopular opinions!

WTAH?

A random recipe https://www.simplyrecipes.com/recipes/old_fashioned_apple_pie/ note the presence of vanilla extract.

I used to think this but I’ll be damned if I didn’t discover the most amazing chocolate chip walnut cookie recently at a small premier grocer. The subtle nuttiness really mellows out the sweetness. And it adds a nice texture to a chewy cookie, too. Now I buy a half dozen every time I’m in there.

Warming up to nuts must be a sign of old age. Or maybe nut quality & freshness has improved pretty dramatically in modern times? I assume when we were kids the nuts avail were pretty terrible and dry.

I agree with you. And now, my ice cream story: as a child I liked only chocolate, and my mother liked only vanilla. I inferred that if I was just a bit more mature, I too, would like vanilla and maybe when I got older. My mother encouraged this thinking. By the time I was around 12, I eased into vanilla with cookies & cream, vanilla chip, etc. It was at that time I realized being mature meant just being at peace with whatever you like and enjoying a specific flavor doesn't make you superior to anyone else.

There was once a pumpkin ice cream--not pumpkin pie, just pumpkin, with just a hint of the spices--that had come out in the stores where I shop for one Halloween to Christmas season. It was so, so good, but have never seen again. Don't recall the brand.

Oh, I love pumpkin ice cream! Also cinnamon, which is hard to find but really delicious.

Any Midwesterners remember Bill Knapps restaurants? They had cinnamon ice cream on their menu

Yes! (Michigander here)

Bone marrow is amazing with salt on a cracker.

Whoever doesn’t like fruit doesn’t know how to pick or find fresh fruit. Canned and mushy supermarket fruit is gross, but so are canned peas. Not the point.

Tell me how to make this.
