Don't tell these people that. They think when their grandkids grow up, they'll need to play on Capital to get into college. M&D DC has the best recruiting contact in the area now. We're going to see how it goes, but all that squawking you hear is Capital boosters knowing there's a big hole in the hull.Anonymous wrote:
Why do people think it's the club that gets the girls recruited? Mnd or Heros don't have a secret sauce when it comes to recruiting.
They attract the high caliber players that are serious about getting recruited. They produce good teams that get invited to the top tournaments and get placed in the top brackets. These help with recruiting.
If Mnd DC were to attract such players and produce a good team. They would have the same opportunity as players in Mnd or Heros.
You misspelled *used to be*.Anonymous wrote:The "stay together" thing, at a club with uncertain recruiting, doesn't happen. Families do what is best for their player's opportunities. In the DC area, that's Capital. If you are willing to commute, and live close to or across the bridge, it's M&D or Hero's.

The OP said M&D West. Difficult to tell who they meant. In any event, players and parents see that Capital is now a 20's ranked team. M&D DC moved up this fall integrating new players. I expect that rise to continue. They'll see how little incentive there is to move to Capital given the trends.Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:The strong nucleus of 29’s should all agree to stay with M&D West or go to Capital. As long as we stay together we’ll be fine at either club.
Not all of that nucleus would necessarily make Capital Blue. Also, lacrosse teams are not family. The strong players will want to play with other strong players to increase rank and visibility. So I guess I totally disagree with the “as long as we stay together” mentality.
The strong players only get better by playing with other strong players. M&D DC roster may keep some really good players but there is no way that all of the good players are staying.

M&D DC roster combined to form a team with very strong players as the core. "The strong players only get better by playing with other strong players." In VA, where are the other strong players coming from. How many Stars or 3D/VAM players are really strong and are top tier talent? Strong players get better by playing with and against other strong players. Look at US Club Lax's schedule scores for the top teams: #2 M&D Black 95.66, #4 Hero's Green 96.84, #6 Coppermine Black 96.80, #10 M&D DC 93.46, #11 Integrity Green 95.16, #17 Hero's White 94.77, #25 BLC Blue 96.32, #26 Stars Light Blue 90.06, #28 3D/VAM Orange 89.37, #29 Skywalkers Blue 93.61 and #32 MDU East 95.41.
The Virginia teams don't compete at the same level as the Maryland teams. Will the Stars and 3D/VAM players be prepared for the next level. Will the Stars players take up the greater percentage of roster spots like previous years?
Based on this analysis, seems the move would be to tryout for M&D, Heros’s or Coppermine in an effort to upgrade. If that doesn’t work out, staying at or moving to M&D DC would be a viable option.
