What the court did is say if something is to be controlled and regulated, congress should pass legislation that does so. And that the courts will determine whether someone is adhering to the laws as set by congress.

We live in a representative republic. Thinking unelected bureaucrats (many of which are owned by the very ppl they are meant to regulate) should make laws and regulations governing US citizens. Is supremely undemocratic

This was the best SC decision I have seen in decades.

Agreed. I miss Ohio rivers catching fire and Thalidomide babies. Make America Great!

Americans will have no protection against pollution and toxins. Doing away with the Chevron deference standard will harm Americans so that the wealthiest can become wealthier.

Nah. The answer has always been and will always be make Congress do more and be better. Anything else is anti-Constitutional and at odds with our form of government. Those who think bureaucrats are the answer hate the American way of life. Turf defending bureaucrats are as problematic as corporate lobbyists but they are way less scrutinized. Allowing them to inbed on Committees on the Hill is a terrible practice. I can remember when John Dingle almost killed an Exec Branch Agency staffer who came up onto his dias to try to influence an outcome. That is how it should be. The reg state has been a boon to law firms and consultants and the twits about this town but it’s hurt us in countless other ways.

Its to make Congress invest in the talent, technology and take accountability. Write a stupid law and the press should dig in and cover it. Idiot Members who turn money back in to be “frugal” should be fired. Congress needs to massively up its game, period.

Otherwise, we can can the Constitution.

Wilson was wrong about everything from his racism to his views against representative government. This all goes back to his bad ideas. Good riddance.

The issue is that you are looking at this for the perspective of a sane and rational person with America’s best interests in mind.

How about the agencies submit any policies they want to Congress to pass them?

The corporatist SCOTUS actually runs America. Doesn't matter who is in the White House or Congress. Just wait until Alito and/or Thomas retire. We get the 45 year old version worse than them. They want to remake America.

This thread should be re-titled from "Bye-bye Chevron" to "Bye-by America".

That is why a bit a minimum of products and try to get them from foreign owned companies. F these owners. They hate taxes and regulations, but have no problem feeding from the public trough. And corporatist jerk offs like Gorsuch encourage it.

Liberals have taken advantage of Chevron and written whatever legislation they wanted as regulations, bypassing Congress. The courts have stopped them a few times like with the Clean Power Plan. Other times the agencies lost in court, but by then it was too late and the changes were locked in. Because they bragged about it one time, the Supreme Court issued an injunction the next time. And now they have taken this tactic away from liberal activists.

Now the Supreme Court needs to figure out how to get rid of sue and settle.

Congressional staffers don't have the technical expertise to write the detailed legislation that would replace the agency's administrative regulations. What will congress do? They will get the crib notes of the legislation from the people who DO have the the $$$ to write the details... industry lobbyist! That's who will be doing the regulating from now on. It's not Congress... it's the industry lobbyists who will be feeding Congress the regulations they like. Who loses? The people of the U.S. and the overall health and welfare of the people and the environment.

To be honest both Republicans and Democrats work for corporate America. American corporations run this country. We can only limit their power. However greed is a very very difficult enemy to combat. Some Americans are extremely rich and that wealth allow them a lifestyle that they are not going to give up. These are the corporate owners.
