“7News also received a statement from YIMBYs of Northern Virginia which stated, "Our leadership team expects to be officially neutral on any arena development proposal at Potomac Yard. We would hope that any such project would include abundant housing, and avoid an excessive level of private vehicle storage.”

From what I remember, it was a hodge podge of low buildings housing small businesses and houses. What is now City Center was a city block size surface lot that was used by car rental companies. The whole area had a lot of small businesses, Chinese stores, Chinese restaurants, etc., before the development.

At 6th and F streets the huge parking decks for the Hecht’s department store took up a lot of the block.
I'm trying to remember, was the City Center area or the Conrad grounds (or both) the old convention center?

Leonsis will probably accept this because he knows moving the teams to Potomac Yards is trash for the franchises. The only reasons he stays with this VA plan is $$$ because he would control the 70 acres and all development therein.
