On the other hand, we have people like Susan Sarandon and some actress from a horror movie franchise, and those that share their views. I happen to think there are billions of people across the globe who share their views / opinions, but your mileage may vary.
Having said that, can anyone explain why the actions of the former are not absolutely drowning out anything that can said about the actions of the latter? Like, why are we even taking about ANYONE other that Stu?
Because antisemitism is more significant threat at this point.
You’re not grounded in reality.
In the “chosen people” mindset, everything is subordinated to the priorities of the clan. Significance is defined by them and their priorities, regardless of relative magnitude.
It’s why over 8,000 innocent Palestinian women and children murdered by the IDF over the past 6+ weeks are not even deserving of a grain of salt’s worth of attention when the the more significant tragedy is embodied by the 1,200 who were killed on 10/7.
It's a war, and it was launched in retaliation for the terror attack. The US launched a couple wars for terror attacks of a similar scale, and I didn't hear anyone crying about Iraqi or Afghan civilians, and their governments weren't even part of the attack.

Blaming American jews is wrong, just like blaming American muslims after 9/11 was wrongAnonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:On one hand, we have people like Stuart Seldowitz and those who share his views. No plea deal for this POS monster. Hopefully the relevant statutes involve mandatory minimums, as well.
You intentionally, maliciously engage in vile dehumanizing, tormenting conduct toward others for the purpose of terrorizing them, you get your liberty yanked.
Do not pass go, do not collect $200.00.
Seriously, though, this matter will likely result in nothing other than garden variety community service. But what a gift this POS has given all of us, pulling back the mask on a substantial part of the population that pretend that their side is good and the other is evil. There’s disgusting evil on both sides, sadly. And plenty more evil here in the U.S., where we pretend that we’re an honest broker between the parties. Far from it.
He's just an old man. Irrelevant what he says, we're told. But let's talk about Susan Sarandon, that monster, who had the temerity to express a thought sensitive to the environment in which Muslims in the U.S. live day in and day out. The nerve of her, to highlight their plight and the fact that another group might be scared in experiencing that day in, day out environment. Can we light the torches already?
On Susan Sarandon, what does a white, redhead, A-list actress know about experiencing discrimination in america, except what she's seen on tv? She's as programmed as the rest of the gen-z tiktok free-palestine crowd. Both jews and muslims have always known what it's like, and hearing her try to pit one group against the other is insulting.Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:https://abc7ny.com/amp/halal-cart-confrontation-former-obama-adviser-harassment/14092785/

No paywall with this link.
Her name is Zainab Chaudry and she’s a big deal at the state and national level. I knew who she was through her leadership position at CAIR.
WaPo is covering the story as well.
Read Zainab’s oped in the WaPo on allowing parents to opt out of school readings that include LGBTQ characters. https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2023/07/17/montgomery-parents-want-opt-out-sexuality-education/
Because religion, right?
Their anti-lgbtq is part of their religious beliefs…or culture, right?
And that somehow gives them a shield…or sword when it comes to defending their religious freedom or right to be (at best) intolerant.
Let me just go on record as saying I’m fine with people of any religion or culture as long as they don’t use their religion or culture to perpetrate inequality.
We wouldn’t be ok with a religion or culture that perpetuates slavery or racism, so let’s not give a religion or culture a free pass to be anti-lgbtq, etc.
That's pretty much all religions.
Not quite.
Her op-Ed hits close to home. This became an issue in Montgomery County Public Schools and it was largely driven by Muslims. It went beyond books to the family life curriculum in health (sex ed/safe sex).
The catholic pope has softened on lgbtq issues, and he’s the official spokesperson. The reality is most Americans aren’t religious—and if they affiliate with a religion they aren’t rabidly committed to outdated teachings.
For me, it comes down to what the average practitioner says. And Zainab is an average practitioner who has a platform through her day job and other professional affiliations—which she should presumably use to build bridges and tolerance. Yet she hasn’t.
Back to the point: this all played out in MoCo, and the group with the anti-lgbtq agenda wasn’t catholic or Jewish.
You're labeling an entire group based off of one person? That's just as bigoted as being anti-lgbtq.
No, not quite.
I’m not a fan of labeling any group because no group marches in lockstep at the macro level.
But if you google Zainab and what she personally said with regards to what was going on in MoCo/mcps, she said—on behalf of her org CAIR—that they wanted to opt out of lgbtq books/content to protect their religious freedom and “deeply held” religious beliefs.
So, Zainab was seemingly using her org’s platform to speak on behalf of Muslims and their deeply held religious beliefs.
Shall we hold her accountable—a public figure who serves as a spokesperson?
Sure, but there are Muslims who accept lgbtq just like there are Christians/Catholics and Jews who do. But the 10 Commandments themselves say homosexuality is a sin.
Sigh.
Can you get beyond the whataboutism and focus on Zainab—the public figure in leadership positions making her a spokesperson for the Muslim community—and what she has publicly championed on the community’s behalf?
She’s not some rando tweeting missives.
This thread is about hate crimes, and Zainab hasn't committed one, so not sure why you'd focus on her while calling the fact that nearly all religions consider homosexuality a sin "whataboutism".
NP. It's fair game to call Evangelicals "Christian nationalists" and even potential domestic terrorists for espousing exactly the same beliefs. If it is framed as a threat when it comes from Christians, I'm not sure why it should be different when it comes from Muslims or anyone else for that matter.
