I do work in K-12 education but I not sure where I stand on Basis. No direct experience with the school. Don't know why I find this all so compelling.
Need a hobby or at least a new way to procrastinate at work. Send help.
You should hop over to the PARCC thread!
Hey, I hear you. I was participating in a thread on the Private Schools forum speculating about where Busy Phillips’ daughter was going to boarding school. Anything to avoid submitting my 2024 budget and finalizing mid year performance reviews.
And before you come after me, we are all here posting/observing an anonymous forum. Not one of us has the moral high ground.

DCUM BASIS threads are full of trolls and obnoxious behavior. Yet the school itself is full of hardworking kids and many teachers and staff that are trying to do their best, like any other school. Most of the parents aren't that bad either. If you're hoping BASIS is anything like these crack threads, I'm afraid you'll be disappointed.
Most of the parents are great. Also, keep in mind that at all schools at the MS and HS level (not just BASIS) there is very little direct interaction between the school and parents; kids arrive and depart independently and take much more ownership over their education (e.g. advocating to teachers, admins, etc.) A lot of the DCUM drama is parents of ES kids who's worldviews are informed by ES.
