Oh come on. If the Mayor is helpless to take any action to fight crime on her own, and is incapable of working with the Council to do so, she should be recalled.

Looney white folk on here will attack you, but this is sadly the truth although a bit dramatized. And this is the reason that my AA son is now far away from DCPS.


Ironically, the dozen or so white neighbors on my block who for months fashionably and dutifully sported BLM signs on their leafy yards in 2020/2021 now have the blood of hundreds of poor DC AA people on their hands. They are the thought leaders which pushed the defund movement and “reform” movement and they own the carnage it has brought. Their signs are no longer fashionable and are nowhere to be seen now.

Now that Monumental Sports is complaining about crime in china town (and threatening to move the arena to NoVa), the city council and mayor will likely start to crack down on more of petty stuff in order to stop the bigger stuff later on. money talks in DC.

These boards are FULL of people denying the gigantic upswing in crime. The denial by the "there is little increase in crime" flat earthers has been going on for a couple of years and is disgusting. Homicide stats don't lie. Other crimes can be vastly undercounted due to Dc letting out on no cash bond causing victims to be frightened to report crimes for fear of retribution by criminals. But homicide is the most accurate reflection of all violent crime trends. DC has gone from 88/homicide per year to over 200. It is 220% HIGHER than it was in 2012 when we had twice as many violent offenders incarcerated and off the streets.

do look at stats for what demorphic groups commit violent crime at what per capita rates before going off the rails.

If you are not a criminal, owning a firearm makes your home about 28% safer than homes with no firearm. The studies asserting owning a firearm made you less safe had zero control for drug dealers, gang members, active criminals, even criminals participating in a crime when killed.

There are six to 12 crimes prevented with a firearm every year. getting sued is extremely rare. And it is better than being stabbed or shot by a criminal/
