From what I can tell, DC Counsel keeps arguing that the "juvenile" brain isn't fully formed until age 25 or so and we need to go even easier on these kids. If 14 year olds are committing carjackings, armed robberies etc but basically can't get punished. Then who is responsible? No ONE? this is a crime lovers paradise. Can't parents be prosecuted if their kid uses a gun n the home to shoot someone? Seems like if a parent is so lax that their 12 year old if committing crimes at 1am, then they should also be held responsible.
From Day #1 DCPS hammers into AA kids that they are victims and the system is structurally against them. They watch YouTube videos of kids taking whatever they want with zero consequences. After five years of this they are sadly fully programmed and armed and dangerous. It can turn out no other way.
+1

The mayor has to fight the Council before she can begin to seriously fight crime. That’s the problem. The Council is packed with Democrats-in-name only socialists. These aren’t 1980’s DC Democrats.
So your contention is that the Mayor, and the Police Chief, are helpless to do anything about crime besides fight with the Council? That she has no responsibility on her own and no independent authority to do anything? Are you serious?
The power of the purse is crazy, isn’t it?

Looney white folk on here will attack you, but this is sadly the truth although a bit dramatized. And this is the reason that my AA son is now far away from DCPS.
Ironically, the dozen or so white neighbors on my block who for months fashionably and dutifully sported BLM signs on their leafy yards in 2020/2021 now have the blood of hundreds of poor DC AA people on their hands. They are the thought leaders which pushed the defund movement and “reform” movement and they own the carnage it has brought. Their signs are no longer fashionable and are nowhere to be seen now.

Anonymous wrote:Er. I am not denying crime statistics. I am merely saying that DC is not a landscape of smoking rubble populated by criminal sociopaths. Unless you are a criminal sociopath?

I'm waiting for MPD to approve my CCW. I can't believe I am at the point where I don't feel safe walking in my neighborhood or running errands in my car. Carjackings and ADWs are increasing in frequency and in proximity to my home. Everyone with the power to address root causes is pointing the finger at everyone else with the power to address root causes. I hope I never need to use it, but what choice do I have but to operate within my sphere of control?
The most likely outcome is that your gun will be stolen by someone - unless you store it properly. The second most likely outcome is that it will be used on someone inappropriately, as a suicide, domestic-related homicide, or accidental shooting. The least most likely outcome is that you will use your gun to protect yourself. One of the root causes is guns.

I hope I never have to use it, but if I do then I am prepared to do what I have to do in order to protect myself from great bodily harm or death.
Feelings =/= objective reality. In objective reality, you are less safe.
Look forward to seeing your trial when you shoot someone. Have fun when you get sued.
