So, at the impacted secondary schools, when do kids use the bathroom? During class only? Or wait during lunch for the only open restroom? Will teachers always allow kids to use the bathroom during class?
It would help if you found a new hobby. Obsessing about bathrooms seems unhealthy.
It’s actually a serious problem. My high school son said there are no options to go to the bathroom some days and he races home in pain.
BCC really can’t handle this. They lock the bathrooms and then lie and say they were open. Kids started posting videos online about looking for bathrooms.
You think that’s obsessing to consider this an issue?
Can you hold it from 6:50am when they get on the bus until 3 pm when they get home?
I doubt it.
NP. I don't know if it’s your kid or you but one of you is seriously blowing this out of proportion. If he's not going to the bathroom that's on him.
But they’re not. My daughter is at a different but nearby high school. It’s a real problem and those saying it’s not are truly awful people. I have no political dog in this fight. I’m very pro-gun control but even if we had a miracle in Congress tomorrow, it won’t change anything any time soon on this issue. Those saying this is made up are lying and I hope they get banned from this website. I offer no solutions here and have mixed feelings on SROs. I’m sympathetic to arguments on both sides and hope alternative solutions can be found. Let’s focus on that. But please stop denying what’s happening.

That is no an option because it is not Equitable.
Both are against the law. I don't understand why the police aren't doing their jobs.
because Elrich and his progressive crew don't want certain groups to be disproportionately impacted.
Some progressive liberal stated that in order to be equitable, you have to apply rules inequitably.
So, here we are.

Anonymous wrote:The right group of kids could organize a mass peeing in their pants action and then hold a presser about being denied bathroom access at school. It’s messed up.

There's no need for MCPS to run its parallel judicial system. We already have one. Just get the police to do their jobs. There are consequences for these ssault or possession of a controlled substance. MCPS shouldn't be in the business of administering justice. Leave it to the pros.

It’s not like there will be no bathrooms. Kids will still be able to go during lunch and between classes. This is no different than when I was in HS in the 70s. I have yet to hear a single kid complain - they’ve got it figured out.
What kid is going to publicly complain about having bathroom issues? That would be almost as bad as the issue itself.
You've got to be kidding me. All people do here is complain about dubious made-up issues.
Do you have a kid at one of these HS? Have you asked them about the bathroom situation? They definitely are upset about it, including the fact that teachers won’t give bathroom passes. Talk to your teen. This isn’t a made up issue.
Kid says it's not that big a deal. Once in a while they come across someone vaping which they ignore.
Which school specifically are your kids at? Because it’s not what I hear from my kid at RMHS, which is one of the affected school. I think the bathroom issue is a much bigger issue for most of the kids than the guns issue. (And the kids also all hate the security at entry/exit points, which is probably unnecessary and unhelpful.). But bathrooms being inaccessible is a big deal.
DP. I do think it depends on the school, and even the bathrooms. My kids at RM tell me some bathrooms are worse than others.
Whatever MCPS is doing about this isn't working. And the announcement is just more of the same. Do they really think something will change just because they make this announcement?

My kid also says this is way overblown. No idea why there's so much pearl clutching. Maybe fearmonger to achieve some political agenda.
