To add to 17 pages of problems already discussed, the way some/many of the students talk about or bully the special education students is appalling. More so when you consider they’re one of the special education centers that students from outside the cluster come to, and co-located with Rock Terrace.
As a parent of special need kids, I just find it horrible to hear such things. Special need kids already have tons of problems and adding bullying makes it really hard to function in school.
Problem is with community around Tilden. Bullying, exclusion etc comes due to what kids are taught at home.

Anonymous wrote:My kids don't attend Tilden, but there probably has been discipline, you just don't know about it because students are entitled to privacy and the administration is not required to share.

Wow. 16 pages of complete and utter nonsense.
I see 16 pages of
The 8th grade mean girls
The staff leaving more than they can hire
Kids making up public Instagram accounts body shaming other Tilden students by their full names
A weak administration with lack of discipline
This is all of MCPS right now, as Central Office have tied their hands
Well except all those schools that give out suspensions and detention and all that which they were 10 threads on last week but continue pretending that it's different so you can feel aggrieved
You want girls suspended for not inviting everyone to a bat mitzvah or wearing a hoodie after?![]()
Not the PP, but did anyone got suspected for body shaming and asking fellow student to commit suicide? It seems you are in that community, any update?
Multiple girls were asked to stick their fingers down their throats to lose weight or just kill themselves. It’s disgusting nothing has been done.

Stay away from Tilden.
I've posted a few times here, as the parent of a girl at Tilden, and honestly while the gross vibe of this thread is pretty indicative of the helicoptering you see among parents there, we haven't had an issue at all. Maybe because we're more chill and just choose not to engage and that approach trickles down to our kids. We don't participate in a lot of the community events because we don't really feel part of the community as a whole, but DD has her friend group, and most of those families are more like us and we all get along well. I have been very happy with the staff at Tilden and DD really likes her school. There are several clubs that DD likes and has found a positive social circle that way. Maybe she just flies under the radar of the mean kids/parents.
