It’s true that every meal you eat without added sugar is a win! The trick is really to eat whole foods that do not come out of a package with ingredients. I’m glad I had an impact! Try banana in your oatmeal. It sounds bad but actually is good. I chop it into a dice.

That big salad Alexandra ate sounds yummy.

So my weight has crept up a few pounds for some reason. It’s annoying. I may need to limit snacking. Not sure what’s going on. Was waiting for my period which came and went and weight is still at the top of my range. Bleh.

Yay for your daughter! That’s a great score I think!

Thanks! Top score is 36. It’s akin to a 1540 or so on the SAT. Now, on to college list preparations and visit scheduling. I have jury duty today and plan to pack a lunch to avoid eating junk. I am a huge chip lover so we can’t keep them in the house. We switched to Skinny Pop popcorn or pop our own.

Sara--who could resist homemade oatmeal cookies? Great job stopping at two. Make sure you eat enough good calories today to fill you up.

Alexandra--How did the day go today?

I have eaten well today. Had eggs with potatoes and a side of raspberries plus a glass of milk for breakfast, the last of my veggies and leftover chicken at lunch. Tofu, rice, and a vegetable at dinner. My daughter bought a box of oreos that are calling me. I may have to grab two.

Alexandra here, thanks for asking! I did pretty darn well. It was a busy day but I bought a huge and delicious salad with a ton of protein for lunch and that 1) felt like an indulgence because of the price and 2) kept me very full during some typical snack times. I did eat more carbs in the evening than ideal, including a few fries and a few chips and an evening bowl of cereal but definitely stayed under 25 grams sugar. I did not realize how often I eat chips until this thread- I seem to be reaching for them instead of sugar and I’m not sure that’s the trade off I want. Something to think about but I’m overall happy with today!

^^that was Sara, btw

Alexandra - I’m a big fan of soup, too, meant to include that in my post. The minestrone we had for dinner last night was leftovers and I added a bunch of extra veggies and shredded Parmesan - came out great!

Lol - I was like, what? Who’s sick? A cheese stick sounds much better.

I’ve eaten two homemade oatmeal cookies I wasn’t planning on eating, but some days are like that. I’ll probably end up right around 30g of sugar for today, a little more than I’d like, but not terrible, either. I had a lighter dinner last night (homemade minestrone) and was starving this morning.

Kate, I hear you on the cost of groceries - yikes! I’m slightly terrified of how much we’ll spend when we have three teens in the house (so far just one tween and two elementary kids).

I am so glad I saw this thread as I desperately need to stop eating sugar. Due to extreme stress I feel like literally my entire diet is now sugary snacks! But starting right now I am going to get rid of the habit!

My day is starting, and it is going to be a good day! I've exercised, done a little grocery shopping, managed to stay patient in the face of crazy, and am looking forward to some beautiful weather.

I hope yours is going to be a good day, too!!!

I did have a bag of Doritos a few days ago. No sugar but certainly not healthy. Still, I figure if 95% of what I eat is nutritious I can let the other 5% go.

I did end up having a few snacks last night that I really didn’t need. But she’s sick, a couple of chocolate chips, and a few crackers. It is what it is.

One thing I’m very excited about is my daughter seems to be taking cues from me. She has been asking how many grams of sugar are in things and surprised in some cases, which is great! There is lots of good healthy food in my house right now so it’s quite easy to avoid sugar. I am the primary earner in my family and my husband just doesn’t get enough food, you know? He is content to eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches to fill the gap but my daughter is allergic to wheat and peanuts so we have to have food around. Anyway, I went to the store myself on Sunday and bought $200 worth of food which makes things a lot easier. Can you guys believe how expensive food is now? For the three of us I have had to increase my budget to $1100 a month.

Here’s to a great day! Kate

Good walk this morning.

Hot chocolate to round out the day and feeling good.

Travel and routine disruption are hard. But so long as it does not derail you for months, it’s no big deal.

Woo hoo! That sounds like a great day. I’m right around 10g for the day, between my pre-workout snack, some pb, and one square of dark chocolate. Lots of healthy meals: Greek yogurt with cherries and almonds; chicken, veggies, and goat cheese; homemade minestrone with lots of veggies.

DD has decided she wants to bake cakes each weekend; thankfully, she and her brothers will eat it most of it quickly! I love cake.

Great job guys! I had a stressful day and did stress eat a bunch of chips which is not great health or weight wise but didn’t have sugar so, I guess that’s good? I was under 25 grams despite needing to grab quick meals and I ate a sugary granola bar at one point. Oh well! New day tomorrow.
