Subject: 2022 election results thread
I'm extremely surprised at what is happening tonight. I was reliably told by Republicans there would be a red tsunami that would wash out every Democratic holding a D+10 house seat or less.
In fact, my own neighbour put out a Hung Cao sign and explained to me that everyone who was important knew that Wexton was going to lose. It appears that might not have happened. We usually leave our respective houses at the same time every morning to go to work - i'll have to ask him to explain to me tomorrow how this surprising outcome happened.

A young adult relative living in our home just got back from a watch party. They work on the hill for an R; when I mentioned that it looks like it is all coming down to GA and the runoff would favor Warnock, they were like "GA is shady - one of my coworkers barely got his absentee ballot in time to vote." Basically junior league election denying. Meanwhile, Trump calling the GA Secretary of State to extort him to change the election results is not "shady"? And the President threatening GA poll workers is not "shady"? I held my tongue but it was hard!

I know! I gave myself a cutoff of 11pm for stepping away from the laptop and turning off the TV- that worked out well.
SAAAME. My cutoff is now 2AM. Honestly the political commentary on DCUM during national elections is better than twitter. Jeff should give people like the WI lady blue checks.

The Wisconsin Senate race is suddenly getting very, very interesting again. 10% of votes are left to be counted, Barnes (D) is only down by 1.4%, and it seems most of the remaining votes are in heavily Democratic Milwaukee.

The bigger problem is that there is one county, Grant County, that has not reported. Pop about 52K and it leans Republican. If that county increases the margin for Johnson (likely), then it will probably put the win out of recount and catching range for Barnes.
Grant County voted 14k votes for Trump and 11k for Biden in 2020. I think the still-to-be-counted Milwaukee votes will have a bigger impact. Also only 59% of Brown County (Green Bay) is in. Hard to say on that one- if it's City of Green Bay precincts still needing to be counted, that's good for Dems. If it's outlying areas...those are more Republican.
Only 76% of Rock County in- +10 Democratic county but again also plenty of red areas in the county so hard to say without knowing where the outstanding ballots are coming from
66% of Portage County in- slightly blue county with a UW campus (Steven's Point) but again...lots of outlying rural areas that might go red. Hard to say.
4% of Pepin County in- very red but only like 5k votes
All in all...not overly optimistic about Barnes- 3 points is a LOT to overcome...but it's not over.
Well, Barnes has cut the lead down to 1.4% (49.3/50.7) with 91% reported in. Currently down 35K votes.
