Corn syrup
I noticed a lot of the foods that cause me joint pain and swelling are GMO foods. Coincidence? I don’t know.
Corn is a bad one for me.
Same with me.
People are looking for scientific evidence which is not available.
Before arriving to the US, many are told to be extremely careful with food consumption in order to keep normal weight , that the food in the US is different from Europe or Canada. I know of a 24 year old professional ballerina who put on 18 lbs in a month eating the same way she ate in Eastern Europe. It was a disaster. She was put on a 1000 calorie diet until the end of her 1 year contract.
Does GMO affect everyone? Probably not. But it definitely affects many, especially those who are not used to it.

Those numbers are skewed because of how much longer Europeans live in general. Old Americans aren’t getting cancer because they are already dead.
True, but a study in 2016 showed only a 2.2 year difference in favor of Europe.

I think GMO is bad for a variety of reasons but I am not convinced that it’s the one thing that ruins our food supply.

Cut out processed foods, sugar etc. Eat meat, fat and limited amounts of whole fruits/veggies. You will be better off.
They eat plenty of bread too. Not sugar, but they by no means are living the low carb lifestyle
Yeah this doesn’t track for me. My family in Italy eats rusks or cookies for breakfast with cappuccino. Crostini, sandwiches, potatoes frittata, focaccia, Bruschetta, pasta, pizza all very commonly seen at lunch and dinner. Young people are thin, older people are often a bit fat.
The Italian breakfast pastries are small as is the cappuccino. You would have to grab 5-6 cookies and pastries plus 5-6 cappuccinos to equal what you get here in the coffee shop. The portions above are much smaller and they aren’t being served with fries and a bucket of coke.
Young people are thinner because it’s completely unacceptable to be a fat young person. They’ll skip meals and cut portion sizes if they start gaining.
This. It isn’t really what they are eating. It is how much. Plus yes, they are more likely to take action if they notice gain happening then to just not care. It seems like most people in the US that are overweight really don’t care
