Among conservatives, I think there has been a decline in support in recent years. Just like there has been a decline in support of women working out of the house. This is especially pronounced among right wing young men.

Let’s call those right wing young men what they are, incels. Back in the old days we’d just call them losers.

There’s no such thing as gay marriage. However, there are gay people that are married like it or not their marriage is exactly the same as yours.

It’s the pedo party now. I fully expect that they will try to follow Utah in lowering the age of consent and start marring their young daughters off to maga church elders and politicians.

I'm not saying you're wrong but how is that relevant?

NP. The encroachment of transgender ideology on every area of life after Obergefell has killed public support for gay rights. Republicans now smell blood in the water and think they can roll back gay rights without suffering at the ballotbox. I think they're right.

Killed is a pretty strong word. Have you seen polling that indicates this?

NP. Killed is too strong. But polls are showing a sharp decline of support for trans rights overall.

New, new poster. I see the backlash, focused on trans people in particular, but gay marriage is woven into society now in a way that most normal Americans won't allow to be undone. Everyone has a gay neighbor, niece, friend, teacher or co-worker. That cake is baked.

Gay marriage owes its existence to a savvy public relations campaign launched when Republicans were more focused on the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and the recession, than on gays. Public support for gay marriage is very soft in the sense that the majority of those who say they supported don't really care and don't consider it an issue worth changing their vote over.

The new public relations campaign against gay marriage that conservatives have launched is working. The way gays have strapped themselves to the grenade that is trans activism is an own goal that further helps conservatives. Bookmark this thread and come back to admit you were wrong when Obergefell falls. It's coming.

On the plus side, there will be useful lessons for other social justice movements to learn from how gays built and then took down their own movement. Future social justice movements will have less hubris and be a lot more cautious, I believe.

It's always interesting to see the new ways that homophobia rears its ugly head. "Oh, I was fine with you gays until you mentioned transgender". No, you were never fine with us. You were lurking in the shadows since the 1980's, pursing your lips and frowning. But you had to keep silent for awhile. Now, like a nasty snake in the grass, you have the opportunity to strike so you're taking your shot.

DP. I think and hope you're right, most people don't have any issues with marriage. People want stable homes and stable families. However, the decision was never that legally sound to begin with. I really wish the plaintiffs would have thought this through before filing their suit against Davis. You can't mess around with giving people an avenue to the Supreme Court and that's what they've done by going after her.

You're extrapolating too much from the legalization of gay marriage. About 70% of Americans agree that gays should be allowed to get married if they want. That is not the same as believing that families headed by gay couples are as stable as those headed by straight couples.

Based on what evidence exactly?

Fall of Roe v wade caused problems for the GOP but Trump was able to eke out a victory over a mess of a ticket and a frustrating economy.

We should just abolish legal marriage. Make civil unions legal instead. If people want to marry in a church for legal reasons, let them.

Yea, get real. The majority isn't giving up the protections of marriage over the struggles of 5% of the population.

Civil unions would have the same legal protections. So you don’t want gay marriage, but don’t have any solutions? Why is that? If you don’t want gays to marry, make marriage a church celebration with no legal standing. Isn’t your marriage before God enough?

I don't care about those who don't care about me. Looking at how gay donors and activists ---because men overwhelmingly hold the power on the LGBTQ side of things too--steamrolled women and forced transgenderism into the law and our spaces, I'm totally done. The attacks on women over the past 10 years have been nasty and dangerous. It's fitting that an even crazier and better funded group of men are coming for the men who came for women. *Shrug*

This. Conservatives may view women as their property but progressives view women as public property. I’m not shedding any tears seeing the conservative men go after the progressive men.

Lesbians deserve better but the progressive gay men have done more than any other group to erode women’s rights in this country.

Gay man here who marched for women’s rights & Roe v Wade. You are so full of crap I almost have sympathy for you (except that you’re trying to wreck my marriage).

Oh, look, a nasty man here to tell us off. Keep focused on women because you're too much of a coward to face your fellow men. They're going to back the truck over you and your so-called rights twice.

You’re truly disgusting. Have some more pride in yourself instead of living for weak men who prostrate themselves to a demented felon. Gross. You look foolish.

Tough words, but you should save some energy for your coming fight. You're not going to be married very long when right wing men are done with you. What you have done to women's rights is what they're going to do to your rights. And you're not going to have solidarity anymore because you killed it. Go cry about it.

I’m a white woman married to man who doesn’t make me carry his water. He doesn’t tuck his divk between his legs to worship a fool like your DH does. You can hate on gays all you want when you really hate that you’re married to a sleezeball who doesn’t want you to vote. MAGA is the only one coming for you. I feel sad for you. Have some self respect.

There's always some moronic woman galloping to the rescue to throw herself in front of the gay and trans-identified men. You wouldn't know self-respect if it was tattooed on your forehead.

Gay and trans people don’t need saving. I was trying to save you.

You wouldn't know it from all the stupid white women making an identity out of "allyship" with men of alternative sexualities who don't give a crap about you. There's always one of you popping up to do battle on behalf of the gays while they let you take the bullets. Go get a life. You're embarrassing.

Not the woman you can't seem to stop arguing with but you sound beyond foolish and let me tell you something, Trump doesn't care one iota about you. He cares about his rich friends and staying out of prison. You are just an uneducated minion to him and he will gladly let you take the bullet for him. Please go get an education you MAGAs are beyond embarrassing and in a cult. People who fall easily into cults typically lack education and the ability to question and think beyond what is spouted by a demented old man. Sounds like MAGA to me. BTW release the Epstein files your guy ran on this promise right?!

You wrote all this and not a single fig was given. People like you and Trump can enjoy each other. The world's worst people fighting each other is a good thing in my book.

LOL apparently you can't read. It's ok.

Don't worry, I'll read the opinion overturning Obergefell.
