Seems like some families love busing.

That could be because families who live across the street from Einstein are walkers to Einstein.

Actually that's a pretty irresponsible way to vote. If you really care about schools, learn about the candidates and choose the one you think is best. A lot of the times there won't be a better option than the Apple Ballot, but sometimes there is. The interests of MCEA are not the same as those of students. And that is fine but parents need to vote with that in mind.

Not really. I vote my conscience as do 90% of the public who reelect these BoE members by a landslide. It's because unlike many of the people posting here we can see the bigger picture and realize they're doing a fine job.

If all you do is vote the Apple Ballot then you don't know what you are voting for. If your conscience is telling you to be an uninformed voter , then congrats, mission accomplished.

On the contrary, if you don't vote Apple Ballot, you are backing kooky extremists who want to dismantle public education.

You realize the current board members drove 7,000 students out of MCPS, don't you?

Reading all these angry posts you'd think these BOE members would be run out of town but they'll win by landslides which just goes to show how out of touch these posters are with the mainstream.

You realize a big reason why Apple ballot candidates do well is because MCEA is one of the biggest (probably the biggest) political action groups in the county, with advertising and ground-game activities that can't be matched by anyone else.

And good on them, I guess, but how have parents been suckered into perceiving this as a benevolent organization rather than a workers union acting in their own self-interest? I think after the school reopening fight you'll see less people blindly accept Apple ballot candidates, but I think a lot of people never put things together that Apple Ballot means specifically union-endorsed.

The MCEA loves their Apple Ballot candidates that push through extra time off for employees at a time students need face to face instruction.

Parents should boycott voting for the Apple Ballot if you want independent decision making and oversight of MCPS by the Board of Ed.

Agreed. I am so sick of the small minority of parents who think they run the county with their “advocacy”. They act like we should all be so thankful for all that they do. Agree. 100%. This was evident with the busing plan they tried to ram through. These east county progressives said that increasing diversity was the most important thing they could do for the students. 90% of the county disagrees with them when they were asked in the boundary analysis.
